2nd gear grind on an '05?
05 with just over 8k and grind free so far. To those that are grinding, try turning the shift into two quick movements. First shift into neutral then shift into gear. Ive practiced this on my last two cars and have had zero issues. My last car, 02 si was notorious for tranny grinds. Also, while you let the car heat up in the morning or while sitting at a light, with the clutch in, run through the gears forwards than backwards. It helps to loosen up the synchros.
Mine is grinding also if I try to put the tranny in 5th when the engine is over 4500rpm, all other gears are great.
And I also have a 2005 with 16600 in the odometer. So its an issue in 2005 also.

I had an issue with this at around 1200 miles but this was because the fluids were cold and after it warmed up it was fine ! I don't have a problem with my tranny at all and my issue only happened twice ! I'd say warm up the car b4 driving aggressive !
Every once in a while i will get the 1-2 grind. I have 3500 on the car right now and it seems it is getting less frequent as i put more mileage on the car. i also have switched out the tranny fluid to synchromesh.
my car has 5000 miles on it and when new it grinded the gears i took it to the dealer and they adjusted the clutch pedal to be a little bit higher so that was the solution no more grinding but what i notice is that it has like a clunk in 2nd and forth but as i have put miles on it i feel it clunks less and less!!
also when you power shift always depress the cluth fully if you depress it halfway it will grind this is normal in this cars!!!

I changed the tranny oil to penzoil synchromesh yesterday.
What a difference! my tranny is butter smooth now.
It looks like mitsu's tranny oil favors bearings than synchros( less friction) So, if you do spirited driving, you will definitley wear out your synchros. Try to mix with other oil that has bit more friction. I used penzoil synchromesh since other members reported good result. I just hope it doesn't wear out my bearings too quick

As I said, mine does it everytime I go to 5th over 4500rpm, no matter if I have been driving for hours, it just does it everytime. I just noticed that a few weeks ago, dont know since when it has been doing that because I dont race my car and I use my 5th gear very little, not much highway driving, instead a lot of stop and go traffic.
And my clutch its adjusted almost all the way up, I have an ACT setup and had to adjusted because of the lockout issue on every gear.
My mechanic tested it and told me to go to the dealer, I went yesterday but they wont fix it because of my mods.

Take your dealer's service manager for a ride, you drive first, him second.....you'll get a new tranny in no-time with only 3500 miles. Might check the fluid level, if its just a little low, it could cause the same condition (not enough oil getting to the sychros until you run and fling it around)
