I also would like to see how they would do on the autocross track by my house. I have a feeling they would be a lot of fun to drive. I drove a WRX on the track a couple of years back at it was very quick so I can imagine that the Evo will be even more so.The only thing I've noticed flimsy on my Z is the navigation door. I've owned nearly every kind of import and the high end luxury cars were the only ones that felt better to me as far as doors. The stereo does suck however. I wish they would have just left it out of the car. The lighter is in a crappy place. The ride is semi-punishing but that's what I get for buying a sports car.
I think the difference will be larger than .2 seconds. 5.4 is the claimed time but I've yet to see a test result with those numbers. 5.8 has been accomplished numerous times and the fasest being a 5.6 that I've seen. Not trying to hate on the Z like I said I wanted one bad before I heard the Evo 8 was coming. You're right about the stereo. It blows chunks. I couldn't believe they equipped that in a car of 2000+. The nav door is probably the cheapest part of the car. The doors are very heavy on the Z and long. The one thing that always bugged me about owning a 2 door like my Supra was the long doors. Mainly cuz jerk offs would park close to you and to make it worse your doors were double normal length so getting out was a b!tch.

Also just because one makes 6 figures doesn't mean they aren't car enthusiasts. I for one am under 30 years of age and have been making 6 figures since I was 22. Which is why I've owned a 97 Turbo Supra, 02 Prowler, 68 Vette, 03 Evolution, 94 CBR 600, a house, etc..... I only paid $2500 over though and I think that's about where most should draw the line. I do believe $5K over is asking too much like you said BUT only because we all know the MSRP is under $30. I do however think the car is worth a $35K price tag. After owning it now it really is a joy to drive.

Peace

Hey All,

BOYCOTT CAPITOL MITSUBISHI OF SAN JOSE, CA!! ('') I got the lousiest customer service there!! I went into the dealership and saw a $4,999 Mark-up instead of the $20,000 as listed in seperate post along with a $1,295 Super Prestige, $1,295 Lo Jack (this is ok!), AND $195.00 Wheel locks!! So the total was like $40,000. A sales was ok in telling me the usual details: intercooled turbo, 271hp, blah blah blah...then I asked for a test drive and he said why don't you ask the General Manager (his name's RJ Barzoti). I was reluctant to ask since I'm the one buying the car and they should serve me instead. The sales was somewhat pushy and I said I wouldn't buy the car w/o test driving. The GM came over and said: "there's none available to test-drive, the only way is for you to agree on the price, buy the car, sign the contracts, we shake hands, and you drive off with the car!" His tone was ok at this point and went on with more bull****. A friend that went along with me and I were getting impatient and the manager said "We don't let anyone test drive it because everyone knows how good they're and they will just buy them w/o test-driving. Have you bought an evolution before?" to my friend and so my friend said "don't talk to me anymore!" This is when the manager was turning red, yelling at my friend, and said "I don't like your friend but you're nice" to me and "I think you should go or I'll call the police" to my friend. My friend and I were getting pissed off and a bunch of sales incl. a few younger sales was like "watch your ****ing language", "that's the general manager and he said you guys should leave so you guys better leave", etc. The manager was also saying "I don't care if you guys don't buy the car, I have tons of ppl waiting even with my mark-up", "I am not going to deal with you guys and you guys can go somewhere else"! We were just so pissed off!! This is even WORST than the STEVENS CREEK MITSUBISHI sales guys!! (I'm glad they HAD TO CLOSE DOWN PART OF IT! ) I'm DEFINITELY NOT BUYING ANY CARS AT CAPITOL MITSUBISHI and NOT RECOMMENDING to ANYONE AT ALL!! I'm even thinking of getting a STi at this point instead. ARRR...I'm so pissed off, I'm going to complain to the Better Business Bureau, district manager/upper management of Mitsubishi, and other places! CAPITOL MITSUBISHI is just not worth your time!!

I totally agree that there are a lot of people with high incomes that are car enthusiasts. There are exceptions to every rule. I was trying to point out that the majority of people that have high incomes are over 30 years old. The Prowler, Supra, And the vette are mostly bought by guys that are over 30.

You just don't see too many 40 year old guys driving CBR600's, pimped out civics with clear tail lights, etc. but there are a few out there.

I also think it's funny how everyone makes all this money on all the internet message boards. I think there are a lot of CEO's on these boards that are really pizza delivery drivers (nothing wrong with this job). I'm not slamming anyone here but in my world if you have it you keep it to yourself.

Agreed, most of the people that can afford fine automobiles or anything over a $40K price tag are usually over 30.

Now you have to back up. Wasn't it you that insinuated that no one with a 6 figure income is going to buy this car? That opened the floodgate for people to pipe in saying "wait a minute, I make 6 figures and I have the car" So you're logic is all screwed up. On the internet it's easier to let people know what you make cuz it's a safe zone. I don't have to worry about theft or any physical activity due to my income. Not that I worry about it anyway but for some in shadier areas of the world it's a concern. I'm just one who likes to enjoy what he earns and don't bother saving every penny I have until I'm old and grey.

Actually this is what I said. MOST being the key word.

I can't wait to see what my local dealer is charging for them.

This is just for a few months. Once other competitors are released aka STi, prices will drop dramatically. Whatever you do, you don't want to pay more than sticker. Save that money for upgrades and other things that you may want to do to personalize your car. Then again, if price isn't an issue go buy it at no more than 2500.00 over sticker. Anything more would be foolish.

I work for a Toyota dealership and all the cars that we sell are not marked over sticker. Even with the new Supra with a new name due late this year or early next will not be marked up. But that is a whole different subject......
