I'm wondering if the funny business at the end of their latest 1/4 is a bad gear change in the MR after 100.

Doubt it. They wouldn't have any reason to shift to 5th in the MR with a 106 trap, but the STi probably did...

I thought that the Evo had the goods when it came to handling. But the STI pulled a tad more g's on the track? I'd always heard that the Evo was better in the twisties, but that the STI was a bit faster on the straights.

Cool

Mathgeek...checkout the numbers I posted from the Motor Trend Article... Evo pulled slightly more G's, faster in the S's and faster on the road course. I think your thoughts were right... the R & T numbers are screwed up.

When it comes to numbers this close it all depends on the weather conditions, driver, etc. Whoever mentioned something about getting the mag for the nice pix is right.

Yeah, and the Evo used to be cheaper than the STI too.

While I know I want a MR, and you know you want one too, would that performance difference sell you on a car that costs 3k-4k more?

probably worse than the MR. lack of decent ABS makes it very difficult to obtain very good lap times. EVOn for sophi drivers...
I dont know where i read the road test 8 GSR, 8 MR, 8 RS and surprisingly the RS finished last on the track.....as well as in braking.
If the RS had come with ABS i definitely woul have gotten one instead of the MR.

All depends what you like to look at in your driveway, and yes the driver is at least accountable for 50%.

Lack of decent ABS, i doesn't have ABS, besides that, sport compact car had a test of ABS vs non ABS, ABS lost

Wasn't ABS designed for panic stops?

It was designed so wheels wound't lock up, if your wheels lock up then you lose traction, kinda like a drift, you purposely lose traction put pulling the manual e-brake which has no ABS (it's wired controled)
