I traded my 2001 wrx in on my evo. The original poster of this little exercise in posting while foreign and/or stupid is getting RAILED on nabisco.
Got a link on the Nabisco forum?

This is true of my respective Subaru and Mitsu dealerships and I still had to go with the Evo when all was said and done. The STI was still a joy to test drive though.

I have owned both so I'll give you a honest opinion... The Evo will put a smile on your face everyday. The Sti won't.

Handling - Evo (On the Sti you need coil-overs and larger swaybars, aftermarket end-links & bushings, to get near a stock Evo)
Power - Evo (You'll need to spend at least 10K to get 500WHP/WTQ on a Sti)
Tranny - Sti
Interior - Sti
Exterior - Evo
Fear Factor/Street Cred - Evo
Sound - Sti

I hope that helps...

Previous Cars : 03 Evo (Blown TC), 05 Sti (RIP)

BTW - Nasioc.com = Bunch of flamin #$%&s, IWSTI.com = Cool Just in case you do decide to go with the Sti

If he's that good, why doesn't he race for the WRC? My thought on this is he races in some small town USA and never really raced against a real driver. Oh, and if he says STi's are better, then why when the Evo vs. STi shootout comes around every year, the Evo's dominate? Evo's are in the top 10 cars ever made. Just my .02 Get an Evo, you won't regreat it.

WRX was an 02 model in the US.

Go back to your T-mobile.

my friend crashed his STIs, yes he had two of those. then last night he test drove my car with me as a passanger in an abandon road (don't accuse me as street racing) we took this corner 60 miles mph and my evo, and was so suprised that the car handled so well, he told me "d@mn this car is bad @ss, the car did the driving for me, if this was an imprezaWRX(STI) it could have been a nasty out of control and a pitifull crash" AND HE WAS A "STI BIAS". see how the evo is better than sti. also watch best motoring videos from japan, they did a shoot out against a r34 skyline, sti spec c, rx7 spirit, evo, etc, the evo dominated, again best motoring 05 evo and 05 sti spec c, evo massacred the sti still not convinced, watch TOP GEAR EUROUP the evo is about .27 slower that the lambhorghini. and the sti was 3 sec. slower and showed so much understeer. i like the wrx i tell u that but i don't see myself buying it

I might take the original poster's words to heart if I ever intended on driving/romping my evo on gravel. But on the tarmac, his comments are way off base.

They are both nice cars. Either will perform extremely well. Very few ppl will be able to really drive either car to their ultimate capacity. I'd go with whatever seems better at the time. I had a WRX I traded for my first EVO VIII and I liked the EVO much better. Of course, that was not an STi... I now have a '05 MR, my friend just got a very nice '04 STi and he says the MR is better... At the dyno, his car put down around 229 whp stock from a 2.5 Lt engine, mine puts down 249 with XEDE..... The new EVO IXs are very powerful and I'd be surprised if the STi can even come close even with the larger engine....

I also have both evo and sti in my garage right now and I drive the evo almost everyday because I can't stand the inferior seats in the sti and the Subaru just isn't as fun to drive. Find someone who is willing to let you drive his or her evo or sti. You don't need to drive hard to get a feel for the character of the car.

Ok STI and EVOs are pretty much the same ideal car. At early years, STIs are better IMO due to its value/price power/handle. personaly I tried Evo 1 to 5 and STI RAs after testing them I bought myself a 97 STI RA (turbo version in JAP).

But now I am driving an EVO 8 coz somehow after test drive new STI and EVO 8 in Aug/05 .... is better, way better. well I should said Evo 8 is better.

so if you are buying new ones .. I would suggest you get EVO 8... if you just want to spend money for big horsepower... get some V8 and custom Twin turbos in it PERIOD

my 2cp

To learn what car is better watch the top gear video bout the Evo VIII 8 vs STI (the older one, I couldn't find a link).

At the end, Jeremy quotes the Stig " the Sti is a boy's car, and the EVO is a man's car"
then Hammond says" there you have it, the EVO is the faster car, therefore its the better car"

I bought the Evo because it's funner to drive out of the box and has unlimited (and inexpensive) aftermarket support. I love the STi too, but for now I think the Evo is the better driver's car. That could all change very quickly though...

BTW...what does the number of Imprezas in WRC have to do with a production model STi or Evo? That guy quoted in the first post is somewhere between a sociopath and a true fanboi. He's the type of guy that could sell his STi for a Daewoo and he'd be trying to convice everyone with a straight face that his Korean econobox is the end all of sub compact performance.
