Do you really have to lift the engine to get to the STI's plugs?

No. Although you will have to pull the battery and intake box. Swapping plugs on a WRX takes maybe 20 minutes. As opposed to 5 on the EVO.

Just out of curiousity, what makes an EVO more of a mans car than an STi?
I don't really think either suits that tag?

This fella seems to think on the contrary..

People who talk that way are basically just jacka$$es. The STi and Evo are FAR more alike then they are different. People who feel the need to bash one are just insecure and need to convince themselves that they made the "right" choice.

Either one is as fast as the other in the right hands. Besides, most people on this board (or NASIOC) can't drive their cars at even 5/10's let alone on the limit. So what difference does it make?

That's a quote from Jeremy, the host of the UK program "Top Gear"... He said something like the STi is a boy racer, but the Evo is a Man's Car. Throughout the history of the program, he's made no secret of his love of the Evo, esp. compared to competitors... He also called the c6 vette a car with a plastic interior and Vietnamese suspension

If someone wants a STi let them buy it, if they aren't at the level to appreciate an EVO then so be it, nothing you will say will convince them IMHO

I may sound like an EVO elitist (I am )...but I speak the truth
Paul, if your opinion with your credentials can't convince this kid to make the right choice, nothing will. Sti owners live a life of denial. Always trying to justify their purchase with BS claims. FWIW The ones that dyno high do not last long before going Kaboom. Stis are a PITA to make substantially faster or to work on.

i'm getting tired of this thread. so my decision is.... i'll push my car this afternoon and right after that i'll go to a subaru dealership and test drive one of their STI. i promise i'll keep an open mind about it. and i'll try to be specific as possible about the results tonight. i'll post it maybe 5-6 hours from now

Exactly. I just don't understand that kind of statement. Who really cares?

There is NO DOUBT the current Evo9 is a MUCH better car than the current STi. Just remember, the Evo8 was better than the STi (in all the magazine comparisons and top gear).... Now the Evo9 is a much improved version, i believe the STi is left behind now.
