Project EVO 9 begins..

I also have no problem with HKS. Those are definitely high quality parts, and I would use them if they were given to me as part of a project build-up, but no, I don't have any on my car. Too expensive for my tastes, since the extra costs doesn't translate into extra power.

Parts:
- 3" Megan catless TBE
- Walbro 255lph fuel pump
- Hallman Pro MBC
- S-AFC w/pocketlogger
- JDM MR DV
- ACT HDSS clutch
- Dynoflash
With those parts, I ran 12.26 on pump gas and 12.000 on race gas. I have no experience with the FCON V-pro, and frankly have never heard of anyone using it, although I'm sure there are a few who do. There are much more popular tuning devices out there to choose from...

hey guys.. i think some of you might have misunderstood what our purpose for this project car is. We arent trying to maximize what the stock evo IX can do with factory turbine and ecu but rather to see how The hks parts fits and works with the new motor. Working with SP Engineering and HKS, we are trying to test many aspects of the vehicle to see how the motor will respond to tuning with the fcon.
We're not here to break records or to be the fastest evo.. but to showcase hks products on the IX and to be able to provide dyno graphs and other information along the way.

Warrtalon, just to let you know fcon can not be use and sold by just anyone, there are only a handful of hks pro-dealers that are allowed to sell and tune it... SP Engineering has put out many highly tuned cars based on using the Fcon.
Instead of assuming how the car will turn out why not just wait and see? We should be finishing the car by end of the year.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see what happens, since it will be a different combo that no one else will probably be using.

There would be FAR MORE to gain by putting all HKS parts on a IX with stock turbo and stock ECU than going with a turbo that isn't well-liked in the Evo community and a tuning device that no one knows how to use. If the goal is just to prove something to yourself, SPE, or HKS, then I understand. If the point is to ultimately show the Evo community how well HKS products work and make money, then I think it's a big waste of time and someone is missing the boat, since most owners won't be touching the turbo or the ECU.

This forum isnt the end all of what is used by Evo owners. I know plenty of people that just dont bother posting and own very well built 10 second Evos.
