I drive a 350Z and an Evo and i still act like i'm going to trade them in at local dealerships just to drive something new. The other day i drove my Evo over to the Mercedes dealer to test drive a used 04 SL500. Just so happens that they also sell Evo's so they know how hard it is to get them and how quickly they sell (North Dakota). They let me drive it w/ out a sales person. Had it for about an hour I doubt i could have done that in a new SL, but it was still pretty sweet! Like i'd actualy trade in my Evo... My 350 yea, but not my Evo.

 

Man you guys are hard on the college kids....I was there once and we did all kinds of stupid crap, thats part of growing up....Most of you cant honestly say when you were in college you never did anything immature or waste peoples time? It was all in good fun, when I was 18 a friend and I test drove a brand new gst...The salesman tried everything to make a sale, he even let us take it by ourselves (Stupid) and we had some fun with the car... He was mad when we came back 45 minutes later, and then realized we were just playing him...So what? We had fun and it was a good laugh.. No harm no foul. Now looking back im thinking well that was stupid but hey at 18 what cares did I have?

I say good prank, you didnt hurt anyone and you got a good laugh out of it... good times, enjoy the college years...After that life gets serious

 

If the salesman was a ********, all of you will be *****ing and crying how bad there sales dept is, etc, etc, so give the kid a break, but is not a nice thing to do

The guy was probably nice to him cause he was driving a bmw, otherwise, his attention towards him could be different...duh!, but theres exception and perhaps this guy was a cool sales man, so i guess only way to know is go back to the same guy with a cheaper car

I am 32 y/o, but i look like i am 21 ( yeah, lucky me) and you dont have an idea how bad this car sales man have been becasue i look young, and this is in every single car that i have bought.....after they see my credit report, income, etc, then there attention and even there face changes complelty, and some times, they make me sick

You have to treat everyone the same ( bussiness wise), no matter if there old, young, pretty, ugly, gay, straight, etc....cause you will never know for sure, if you judge someone just becasue of the way they look, its like the saying goes...dont judge a book by his cover

 

+1 Nice job, you probably cost him a sale wasting his time with you, when the next person could have been a buyer. Maybe when you grow up you'll have a commission job and have someone waste your time just for giggles. That'll be fun!

after all , an evo is not a showroom queen , it is being sold for performance
w/o a test drive , it is hard to impress ppl

 

I drove up in a 1997 Nissan Quest...all beat up when i went to go buy the Evo.

 

While I am generally not a fan of salesmen, this was a really crappy and demeaning thing to do - not only did you waste his time (while you may not be working for a living, he sure is hell is), but you treated him like a fool.

I hope your father isn't in sales. How would you feel if you father was indeed a salesman (one of the good ones), and came home after a long hard day and told you a story about a kid who came in to his dealership and pulled the same crap you did. I imagine your father would feel like he lost some dignity and pride (to be treated like a fool by a 19 year old snot-nose kid), and would hope that you would be upset with the kid for making your father feel this way. Do some growing up before you graduate - think about other people's feeling before you treat them like crap.

 

I think people need to relax. Yes he wasted the guys time, but the question is what would the salesman have been doing otherwise. If the place was dead the guy would just have been sitting around anyway. Everyone here has done something stupid and immature so come off your pedastools and back to reality. Remember when you were a kid, think of the amount of stupid things you did that ultimately made your regretful parents waste their time on you. Hey grown ups on EvoM, if you hadnt noticed flaming is immature as well. Would you say your snide remarks like these in an adult situation ie. not on the internet. Leave him alone because he was just sharing a story. That back button on your browser lets you banish his initial post from your memory, you dont have to reply.

 

Just sitting around? Time=money. He could have been calling old customers, out prospecting, or just relaxing picking his nose, who cares. Who are you to judge how valuable someone else's time is?

Whatever. I call BS on this whole sorry excuse of a thread. I think he made it all up. Nobody would loan this kid a BMW all day just to dick around in.

 

Wow, I think EVERYONE needs to reread what I wrote, because most of you probably think I went into a crowded dealership (which only exists in car ads), pulled a salesman away from another customer, and had him waste time for me. Although exaggerated, that ISN'T the case.

They are there for a certain time frame. What are they supposed to do during that time? Tell people about cars. I asked him questions, he answered back. Seeing that not enough Mitsubishi dealers seem to know well enough about the Evo, I asked him and tested how much he knew. I gave him a for all everything he told me.

Second, I NEVER took a test drive. When did I ever say I took a test drive? I was OFFERED one, and I never even asked.

For those who think I'm some immature 19 yr old college kid, you guys don't know me at all. But I'll let you think that in your minds, if it'll make you happy.

 

My friend has a had a bolt-on viper loaned to him for a weekend just to dick around in. They are just cars...

If any of you would have read page 1 or page 2, you would have read that he did infact NOT take it out for a test drive...
