PRUVEN PERFORMANCE EVOLUTION IX My car is still at PRUVEN PERFORMANCE hopefully it will not blow up this time!! ,, my car blow the engine after some ECUTECK problems and other issues hopefully the guys at PRUVEN PERFORMANCE take care of me. I Never expected a EVOLUTION 9 with intake and cat back exhaust would blow the engine.

Careful on modification to your New EVO IX so you dont wind up like me. once you add intake and software kiss your warrenty GOOD BYE!!!

Dealer will not honer any modifications!!!

YOU BEEN WARNED!!!

I will keep you posted if AL from PRUVEN PERFORMANCE does right by me like he said he would.

Modification on my Evolution IX so far.

HKS RS intake
HKS Carbon Ti exhaust
ECUTECK Flash

On the way:

HKS R intercooler
HKS Twin Plate Clutch
HKS Down Pipe
HKS GT35 Turbo double ceramic ball bearings.

What will be done: Since my engine was blown with only 5,000 Miles on it !

Head Job Port and Polish
Valves Done, Springs and retainers
Pistons , Rings and Arms.
AEM stand alone ECU (maybe still deciding)

Hopefully my Evo 9 will be one of the fastest on the street.

I see you live in West Palm Beach Florida. Why is your car in CT at Pruven?

If your car is a street car, I would consider getting a stroker, since you are re-building the motor anyways.

Also, feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe AEM released a version for the Evo 9 yet, so you'll have to use Ecutek, unless you get rid of the MIVEC.

Why all the HKS stuff? There are parts that are as good or better in your listing & cheaper.

Just my $.02cents.

Yup thats Me.

Thats me you probably sceen my 2003 Grey M3 with the BBS. My friend was telling about these guys at PRUVEN PERFORMANCE and this guy AL. He was talking about that they had on of the fastest Evolutions in the country so i decided to give them a try since im originally from New York and was going up there anyway.

My expericance so far has not been Good : (my new IX EVO sitting at Pruven)

But we will see how it turns out.

So if we are to read between the lines, your stating you had an intake and exhaust put on and the car flashed with the Ecutek software & then something happened and your engine blew?

Did you drive up from FL with the intake on or did you have it put in on when they flashed your car?

What happened to the engine. Spun bearing, cracked piston..... Can you provide a little more detail?

Yea, I did the upgrade intake with no Exhaust ! went to Pruven got flashed car did 360 WHP which i was impressed at first, and 1 day later my engine started acting up and idle was very rough, took it back to the dealer they swapped out the ECU because it was having problems. A few days later after that BOOM the engine blew.

I'll Keep you guys posted on the details of what happend once they break down the engine ill know the damage that happend.

My first Evo so im new to this technology im use to GERMAN. (so thought of what i should do are all open for suggestions.)

P.S. car never left to florida Thank G-D!!or i would of been stuck on the road!!!

Then I think you should have mentioned that first. This means neither Pruven nor Al is liable for what happened after the ECU was swapped...

True that but i was taken to his guy at mitsubishi and they did what they did, but still shocked that a brand new EVO 9 blow the engine with very minor mods. Bear in Mind the Evo has not been anywhere else but PRUVEN but AL said he was gonna do right by me, and the only reason it went to the dealer that AL recommended was because i couldnt go anywhere else because warrenty would be voided which it was anyway !

My problems started after i went to PRUVEN and did upgrades. Im not saying PRUVEN messed up my car but let see its only been there.

Could it be that with the new stock ECU + the performance parts it was running leaner than with the tune and THAT might be what caused the motor to go? Seems like when you add an intake and exhaust car seems to boost quicker and possibly run leaner until you get the tune, am I correct in assuming this?

360whp is an awful lot of power out of just an intake and a flash. How much boost were you running? What was your AFR after the tune? Although the dealership swapped the ECU for a stock one and your engine let go a day or so later, it would be safe to assume that the damage was done before the ECU swap. Again, 360whp on just an intake and flash is about 55 - 60whp too much. I'd be interested in what how much boost you were running and what your AFR was. There's no way your engine should have let go at that whp level assuming a good tune. But again, you were about 60whp stronger than you should have been given the mods you stated...
