PRUVEN PERFORMANCE Evolution IX
This thread is retarded. Sharkbite, are you coming on here and trying to indirectly tell us that Pruven and Dynoflash are responsbile for your blown engine yet farther down in the thread you say you took it to the dealer after being modified and then the DEALER tampered with the ECU and it blew?
Out of the 5000 EVOs with a flash Ive never heard of anyone having a problem, I find it very hard to believe one the best shops in America and one of the best most reliable EVO tuners had ANYTHING to do with your car blowing up... especially after fully reading this thread which is definitely lacking any sort of credibility

I read it and so has a lot of people. this seems to be a heated (refresh every 5 minutes) thread. I think they just want this to stop from becoming a vendor bashing session. BTW, they need to remove Pruven Perfromance from the thread. It makes it seem that it's Pruven's fault and I know that's not his intention, he clearly stated that in a few threads. Good Luck!
I'll be interested to see what happens.
It appears the thread was created and certain things were bolded MAYBE to put a little pressure on the parties involved to act on the situation?
Warrtalon is exactly right. "It's best to post it after the fact rather than cause all this speculation based off partial details that currently don't add up."
IMHO this thread is useless. It does nothing to improve your situation or to inform others.

I was just stating that al is why i switched to ECU+ because my car never ran right after he tuned it. If warrtalon can post his thoughts about the product i should be able to also.

I dont come on here often, but I was just surfing and stumbled upon this thread. Just a few facts about this for anyone who is interested.
1. Al is Dynoflash and Pruven is Pruven. Al does not work for Pruven but has been coming here for years. He is his own business. We havent seen any Evo motor failures from his tuning. He rents our dyno facility from time to time and we work closely on certain projects with him from time to time.
2. The only work Pruven has done to this Evo 9 in question, prior to it's demise, is strap it down to the dyno. Never have we turned a bolt prior, on this Evo 9. We actually picked this car up from the dealer on Wed. and haven't had the time to pull it apart yet, but we have been authorized by the owner to pull the motor and diagnose the exact problem.
In closing I would like to say that Al will be posting on here to clear up any misconseptions and will be laying out the fatcs that lead to this car's demise. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

It is most regretable to be in a situation like this one to have to defend myself and contradict my customer - Steve is a good guy or so i thought and it is very disappointing for me to have to spend my time to explain all of this in a public manner
First of all - the begining - he came in for a Ecutek Tune with ONLY HKS intake and MBC
He had no boost gauge - so we set the boost with the shop mbc
I told he HE NEEDS A GAUGE and I wanted to lower his boost to 18 psi till he could get a guage - he insisted to keep it at 20 - even without the gauge as he said he was getting some parts in a few days
A few days leter he goes to ANOTHER shop to get a full turbo back exhuast added - he is doing hole shots in front of the shop on the two step and the car is not running right
Somehow the ecu coil driver went bad and he is down 2 cyls
I arranged to have a new ecu put in under warranty - I am not responsible - but wanted to do the right thing by the customer as the Ecutek IX flash is a new product
Customer was told - bring car ASAP with warranty paperwork to recieve a new ECTUTEK license and a retune on the dyno for the new exhasust - FREE of charge
Customer did not come back
ONE week later - get a cal from customer - he finaly installed the boost gauge and he is hitting 25 psi of boost and fuel cut
TURN DOWN YOUR BOOST - you NEED A RETUNE - your car is NOT TUNED
"Which way do I turn it AL ?"
DOWN - follow the arrorow - counter clockwise - 19 psi of boost till you get tuned
Three days later - another call - my heat does not work
I diagnosed it as a blown head gasket
DONT DRIVE IT - check the coolant level in the radiator - call me back immeditaley
NO RETURN CALL
Next Day - "I was driving and my engine locked up"
- I am sorry guys - bt this customer was most unreasonable and uncareful. He did not follow any directions and took a lot of risks with his investement.
It is sad to see him with a blown head gaslet and other possible problems but it is alao sad to see him now making a post like this on the internet.
WE was warned every step of the way and advised what to do - he never listened to my advice - raced the car on high boost with no boost gauge and no tune in his ecu. Not a good idea.

Facts:
1. English is probably Sharkbite's second language: he seems to be struggling with accurate wording.
2. Sharkbite is a newbie to both this forum and to Evos: this is causing him to mix up Al with Pruven.
3. His car was having serious problems BEFORE he went to the dealer, so his issue is most likely NOT the dealership's fault. However, that doesn't mean it is Al's fault either.
Questions needing to be answered:
1. What is actually wrong with Sharkbite's car.
2.
3. How is Sharkbite's car at Pruven? Pruven is in Milford, CT. which is like 600 miles to the north of Florida.
4. What kind of dyno reads 360whp on a stock Evo 9 with just a reflash? I'm getting sick of whacked out dynos!

Smoggie, #2 on the bottom was just one speculation from someone in this thread who got mixed up. Al hasn't ever posted this car's dyno. There was another IX with exhaust/intake/mbc/ecutek on race gas that put down 375whp UNCORRECTED. Just wanted to clear the air on that one...
