Help Please (taking car for estimate)

Im taking my car for an estimate they said theyll write me a check on the spot etc.

The damag on my 2006 Evo is

the rear bumper has a whole in it the size of a quarther + scratches etc
my tailight undamaged but got unaligned some how. and my truink is off aligned causing it not to be able to be shut crrectly. might be bent probably.

Whats the price for a bumper painted? and a trunk lid painted? so i have some idea of what i want the estimate to be like.

also the tailight if any of u know

My quote in your sig is still valid I see...

A set of IX tail lights retails for $310, but I'm not sure about one tail light. If it's not damaged, you don't need a new one. It is probably misaligned because of the whole truck/bumper issue. Have you had the frame checked? It sounds like the whole frame may have been bent causing the misaligned parts in the rear.

who is giving you the estimate? and I would only take a body shop. Their estimate is the only one I would trust. good luck

all state is. i never had a chance to go to any gargages yet because of the hoildays etc.

If they give me an amount to low i can always decline it and tell them im gonna get some other estimates right?

I haven't done this before so im not sure what im allowed to do etc.

now that i think about it. the trunk might not even be messed up. it might be bacause the car is messed up on the left causing the trunk to be misaligned.

people seen my car and they didnt even notice the damage untill i pointed it out. So i really hope i dont get screwed over this

if the taillight doesnt line up, you need to get the chassis checked.

The allstate adjuster will write an INITIAL estimate. They dont take anything apart, so they know its possible the etimate may change once the car is in the hands of the body shop. If the body shop determines more parts are needed, they notify allstate and they will send out an adjuster to verify and approve/deny. Sometimes the body shop (if they're good) will fight for replacement vs. repair, for example.

I hear State Farm is much easier to deal with for collision repair.

What is your deductable 500? if your camages are going to be over that maybe like 100-200 bucks iw ould still payfor it without getting the insurance company involved, that way insurance wouldn't go up, it may cost you more up front, but in the long run will save you. i got a quote from a trusted body shop by me, and he is a good friend of mine and only trust him with my car and he said with paint and labor he would only charge me 200 bucks to re-spray and buff my rear bumper cuz i backed into a rock and it got scuffed up a little, so hell i will just pay it out right, its cheaper, there is no sense in paying out 500 bucks for my deductable for a 200 fix

By the way you describe it, it should only cost you about $3000 (est.) to get you back on the road. I found this by doing a quick search:

If you think that this is a joke, think again. What I'm saying is you might need to get you a beater or go downgrade. The Evo might be too much for you...seriously.

Collision repair / insurance estimates may not be a quick and painless experience.

For my crashed Evo, I went to an approved collision repair shop, so the insurance adjuster didn't need to be involved initially. But as they started to look at the car more, they progressvely found more and more damage; they hacked off pieces of the car to figure out what else was messed up.

If you have rear damage, it may end up being pretty expensive. I believe everything in the rear is welded together, whereas in the front, some damage is a matter of bolting on replacement parts (but not in my case). So they might have to pull the frame and reweld.

I'm no expert in this area -- I'm just offering tidbits of info from my experience this year.

Don't forget to claim the depreciation value, don't know the term insurance companies use but a friend got rear-ended in an S4, and got a couple thousand or so for that. I am thinking you got rear-ended right? So....the other person's insurance should be covering things?

Please tell me you didn't try that 180 slide?
