Question JDM EVO MR Headlights on an RS?

I bought some of these and took them to my mitsubishi dealer to install and they said it would not connect up to the existing wire harness on the car......WTF?

Anyone know what I should do, I tried doing a search, but no luck.

Yeap you cant do it, the wiring harnesses are different. What you can do is get an aftermarket HID kit with DS2 bulbs and it should work.

Not exactly sure if this is what you're talking about, but I know that you need this connector to use the JDM headlights on USDM evos.

RS lights = 9006 lo beams, 9005 hi beams, no fogs

JDM MR = D2S HID lo beams, 9005 hi beams, 9006 fogs

you need to get a HID set and proper harness, check xenondepot.com.

I actually have the McCulloch HID kit w/ 9006 bulbs, but I knew ahead of time I would need D2S bulbs, so I ordered them, but they did not hook up to the ballasts (there were no wires coming off the light bulbs like the 9006's). The other problem was when the mechanic took me out to the garage to show me, It wasn't just a problem with the low beams, he said it would also not work for the turn signals, etc because they also had different harnesses.....he said what he could do is take the wiring off my existing lights and put it on the MR lights, but that did not give me a warm fuzzy feeling. I'm so pissed.

the rs lights have a spot for fog bulbs but dont have a bulb

Looks and the beam pattern will be different...I do have 8000K 9006 bulbs in my RS headlights right now, I just wanted to switch to the MR headlights mainly for looks, but I wasn't expecting this....according to Lancershop.com, they are plug-n-play for the RS.....whatever

I made the same mistake of buying the HID kit with 9006 bulbs, i dont want to get another HID kit and waste my money.. I suggest to sell them or return them to lancershop if you can and send the headlights to EvoDave

Hi,

The regular projectors are not meant to be used with HID bulbs. The beam pattern will be scattered when an aftermarket HID kit is installed. We have the JDM Evo 9 headlights with the OEM factory HID for sale right now and this might be something you should consider.

A link to the headlights:

Thanks,
