Got a "street racing" ticket for "exhibition of speeds"
bro that sounds like crap, i have never heard of anyone getting pulled over for suposedly going 5 miles over the limit. obvisously Officer Hormel was in a *****y mood and gave it to you. id fight it. if i know how cops are he wont go in especially if its his day off.
fight it BIG TIME and also make sure you get a lawyer that already hates cops and you'll never see that cop around your neighborhood again because courts wont tolerate that much abuse of power.
Well I got a racing ticket for "racing" on the highway. Meaning I was going faster in the slow lane then cars in the fast lane. The court was not on my side in any way shape or form.
I ended up paying the ticket but later found out that a racing ticket is a MAJOR violation.... same as DUI/OWI, Hit and Run, or Fleeing an Officer. My insurance nearly doubled for that one ticket. Also, the ticket stays on your record for 5 years.
I would go to the pretrial and talk with the DA. See if the DA is flexible. If not get a lawyer because as mentioned above the Judge will normally consider you a punk.

Don't actually have to be racing someone for it to qualify for street racing. Other wise it is just speeding. Plus the fact you were doing 30 in a 25. I would fight it, hopefully you will get a judge with some common sense.
sorry to hear about the bad news....IMO never try to argue or even reason with cops, most cops take that job for a reason(god complex), anyway, lawyers are on this earth for a reason. The best word of advise if you ever encounter a cop, good or bad, never say anything and have your lawyer do the talking, even in small things like tickets, trust me it does wonders. Hope it all works out for you.
not only can you challenge whether or not he used a radar gun on you and ask to see the readout, but just so you know you also have the right to see that it was calibrated correctly upon use. I dunno exactly how you'd disprove the gun's accuracy, but I heard this done in a court hearing for a past ticket.
now all of you know why i bought an RS. the wing makes you pick up 5 mph so you get a ticket. if you had an RS that looked like any other family sedan on the street, then he would have been like its just some young kids dad going to pick there son up at the gym.
i'm telling you that the wing got you that ticket.
btw, 30mph in a street race is kinda fast, you should probally shut it down a lil sooner the next time.

The Officer can base his stop on his perception of you going faster than "normal" or gunning it but he still needs some kind of proof to show that you were either racing someone or speeding. He cant base the ticket on his perception nor the sound of you gunning your car.
Once you had stated that you werent racing anyone or speeding though, and the Officer could not prove otherwise, the stop should have been concluded. The Officer's actions after discovering that there was no such violation and the fact that he called you an idiotic young driver (you need the witnesses for that one) is what constitutes to the unprofessional and discourteous conduct.
Good luck... If you file the complaint in time he ll probably drop the ticket within a couple of days. Trust me...

This is the best form of action without a doubt
(need the witness for sure though)

Here's a funny story I was recently forwarded from a lady friend that I thought could help lighten the mood a little!
THE LITTLE GIRL AND THE COP
A city cop was on his horse waiting to cross the street when a little girl stopped beside him on her shiny new bike.
"Nice bike." the cop said, "Did Santa bring it to you?"
"Yep," the little girl said, "he sure did!"
The cop looked the bike over and handed the girl a $20 ticket for a safety violation, saying, "Next year, tell Santa to put a reflector light on the back of it."
The young girl looked up at the cop and said, "Nice horse you got there sir. Did Santa bring it to you?" "Yes, he sure did." chuckled the cop.
The little girl looked up at the cop and said, "Next year, tell Santa the dick goes underneath the horse, not on top."
Good luck getting it sorted out!
