i wouldnt file a comlaint for sure, and make sure it is documented. find out if he used a radar gun, and if he did rquest to see a copy of the calibration form that states when was the last time it was calibrated. and if he didnt use a radar, ask to see a form stating that he has succesfully recieved training detecting a cars speed visually. if neither of these things are availible for the trail, it should get thrown out or switched to another date

And to all the other comments, i was really just expecting the judge to see this ticket and throw it out, but seeing all these comments, you guys have me worried. Why should i get a lawyer though when i didnt even do anything wrong? Even if i was doing 30mph in a 25.. that still does not classify as exhibition of speeds... And what street race goes to 30mph? I dont understand the logic of this stupid cop, and hopefully the judge will have some common sense. My court date is the 26th of Jan. Wish me luck!

bullet dude... jersey cops are some of the most leniant in my experience. Not that they are great by any means, but compared to Mass and NY those dudes are d***heads.

Mass cops have flat out lied to me, similar to the situation this guy is talking about. street racing is just because you have an evo, not because you were street racing. secondly, cops are supposed to be trained estimaters of speed, and they all seem really bad at it. I'd like to see them have to take refresher tests once per year

Everyone suggests a lawyer because automaticaly the judge will NOT be on your side when you enter the court room, you will have to prove to him that you did nothing wrong and most often a lawyer is the best way for that. I'm not saying I would get a lawyer personally, but its never a bad idea.

Also: Cops CAN get your speed on Radar when they are traveling in the opposite direction. The radar gun picks up the speed at which you are traveling toward their car, and then subtracts their speed to give them an accurate ticket. I have had a few tickets this way. BUT, if he wrote "Approx: 30" on the ticket that would mean he is estimating your speed, and did not use radar/laser.

Good luck, that ticket is BS.

Just because the ticket lists speed doesn't mean this stormtrooper didn't write a nice long report stating that you argued with him, tried to ditch him, and were driving recklessly.

The ticket is just the beginning of the bullsh!t cops pull.

Yea AZ cops aren't cool...I got a warning on the 202 for doing 70 in a 65....he pulled me over because he said I crossed the Apex...which was BS because I was clearly past the apex when i merged...they definitely hate the evo...good luck in court!! now if i could just stop getting HOV lane violations...2 in the last 3 months!!! traffic sucks!

THE LITTLE GIRL AND THE COP

A city cop was on his horse waiting to cross the street when a little girl stopped beside him on her shiny new bike.

"Nice bike." the cop said, "Did Santa bring it to you?"

"Yep," the little girl said, "he sure did!"

The cop looked the bike over and handed the girl a $20 ticket for a safety violation, saying, "Next year, tell Santa to put a reflector light on the back of it."

The young girl looked up at the cop and said, "Nice horse you got there sir. Did Santa bring it to you?" "Yes, he sure did." chuckled the cop.

The little girl looked up at the cop and said, "Next year, tell Santa the dick goes underneath the horse, not on top."

Good luck getting it sorted out!
That was good

the judicial system sucks in this country as it does in every other country. My brother even showed pictures to a judge regarding a wrong turning lane violation and even quoted the officer saying to him "oh just go to court and the judge will dismiss it" and he still lost the case. You have stuff like ticket quotas where they just want to write any ticket. the cops don't care because they still get paid to go to court. the real losers all the time are the innocent people who have to lose out on work or time in life. NYC got out of a budget deficit because of the ramp up in tickets. laters pk

Fortunately, not all cops are like that. I am sorry you've receive a ticket. I do hope you will be able to get the ticket drop since it is a bit ridiculous. However, just be prepared since technically you were speeding, although just 5 mph.

Except GLIs can't drift.
