It is ridiculous, I drive everyday to work(about 8 miles), I live in Tucson and I get to see an average of 10-15 cars everyday one way to work with expired license plates, cracked windshield, no seatbelts and people riding in the back of the pick up trucks, there are a few dozwn of thousands illegals driving everyday in the streets of Tucson, how come I see them and the Police don't .

How come I have to pay full coverage for 4 vehicles and thousands of people get to drive everyday to their legal/illegal jobs with no insurance/registration and get away with that, it get worse, if they hit you then your car is fu$k and still you have to pay for your repairs plus WE have to pay for their medical bills..

The police mentality in this country sucks big time, there is a huge disproportion of your actions vs the amount of trouble and money that you go through if you commit a so called "crime " So much that we brag about freedom and we are one of the most restricted countries as far is police laws.
Well said.

The easiest thing to do is just exercise your right to contest the ticket by mail if Arizona allows that. No lawyer fees and you don't even have to go to court if they throw it out the first time.

Dude fight it, I don't know how it works in your city but most courts don't have any time to deal with stuff like that, and I've got to say where I'm living they have the DA come out and tell all the people that are there for traffic crap won't see the judge and the pig(cop) almost always says "I'll see you in court" but the judicial system won't pay an officer to sit in court all day, they would rather have them make busts, every time i've gone to court I have NEVER seen the officer, which is how I got my licsense back after my DUI, cause I requested the officer to appear in front of the judge, guess what he wasn't there... anyway the DA up here says that they'll give you a plea bargan which is like half or less of the violation and I took that for my speeding ticket, it was a slap on the wrist. but in your case, since the ticket was BULL$#!T in the first place I'd take it to the judge and make the cop come in front of the judge and have to take the day off in order to do it, and make sure you get in on a very busy day, if there was any witnesses find out if you can, Best of luck dude

I re-read the ticket because i was never sure exactly where the cop was when he saw me. And he wasnt even on the road where i thought he saw me. He was on the road literally right infront of my Gym parking lot. Which is a small road, 116th st,... And i remember how i took that turn too i took that thing slooow as a mother. Maybe 10mph if that.. And i didnt "gun" it cuase my left turn into the parking lot was right there, maybe 100-200feet away or so. Plus i think, but not sure, there was a car sitting there to make a left, where i made the right onto 116th st. So i obviously wouldnt have made a turn to quick and "aggressive" if theres a car there.. This cop is on crack!!!
Oh and might i add, now i think there is nooo way he got me doing 30.. I was maybe at 25 IF that...

Thumbs up

"exhibition of speed" in AZ is an 8point ticket meaning if they convict you your license WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR A MINIMUM 3 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will help you beat the ticket with the info below:
1) go to court & plead "not guilty" so they can reschedule a Pre Trial Conference.

2) go online to www.servicearizona.com & order a copy of your 5 year MVR report (the prosecutor will also do this to use it against you)

3) look on the ticket & see how the cop determined your speed- if it says pace we can win. How? in court, ask the judge to have the cop admiss into evidence a speedometer certification of his patrol car with a date within 14 days from the day you're in court. if the officer cannot provide this report, ask the court for a dismissal due to lack of evidence. if it was radar, you might be screwed but request a copy of the calibration report for the radar gun's PRONGS not the gun itself. also the officer should be trained to calibrate the radar gun daily. if the officer for any reason cannot show up, ask the court for dismissal

4) go to az's gov't website & look up the statute to see exactly what you're dealing with. it is the code under the "violation" box in the middle left of the ticket. it will start with A.R.S. xxx-xx

5) dress to impress & do not get nasty or belligerent.

if your driving record is clean you may get away with this. i will also find my 21 page PDF file written by a traffic attorney & PM it to you. i hope this helps you out. i got 1 of these tickets in 1999 for taking a turn too fast. i didn't win cuz i was ill-prepared & didn't know the law. also if you lose, the points stay on your driving record for 5 YEARS so try to win...

driving school as not an option on "criminal tickets". they will send you to Traffic Survival School after they suspend your license. this would also be a good time to keep a camcorder in your car & when the cop asked you for your info, get his FULL NAME, BADGE#, & SUPERVISOR'S FULL NAME 1ST b4 you hand them your license & see how powerless & nice they become all of a sudden...

If what you've posted is true as you have represented it, I would hire a lawyer and fight it. You can't afford the insurance increase with that type of ticket, the points, etc. He'll have to have stated on the ticket what type of speed detection he used (at least in FL. they do) and when it was last calibrated. the fact that he wrote you for 30 in a 25 is a joke. A good attorney will get it thrown out w/ no fees,ct costs, etc (presuming you have a clean record).
I'm telling you guys, you've got to look into "Pre-paid Legal Services", well worth it, covers MV's etc.

I think this is getting blown out of proportion, any judge with a brain who see's approx 5 mph is going to dismiss this. Just make it a point to say this is your first moving violation, indicate the comments he made to your friends at the gym and be courteous and professional. I'm almost positive this will go in your favor.
