My Evo to STi Story (Long)
You have a point, but my car is completely stock (except for my Perrin shorty antenna), and my dealer tried to deny me warranty work to repair the damage they did when they installed my sports meter kit improperly. So, I personally do feel there are some HORRIBLE Mitsu service departments out there.

I know the parts you had on your vehicle should have nothing to do with your motor going bad. But mitsu gets screwed left and right by people. For instance someone puts a NOS system on a evo blows the motor then removes the system and mitsu has to cover the bill. It happens more than you think. I havnt heard of anyone having any problem with mitsu if the car was stock. Mitsubishi stands behind their product more than you think. When it comes to evo's Mitsubishi asks alot of questions before droping the money to fix it becuase of being bent over so many times. I dont think its fair but if your going to mod the car then dont complain if Mitsu doesnt want to fix it. Your solution would have been to remove any and all aftermarket parts and they wouldnt have said anything to you.

The clutch was never dumped and the vehicle was never powershifted so it was obviously a defect from the factory. They pushed me away every time saying they COULD NOT DUPLICATE the problem. The next month I traded it in for an Xterra... Hehe... Hopefully when i pick up my EVO IX this summer I won't get the same bull@#$...

Your Case maybe one of the first Evo Crankwalk cases out there...thats if the dealer isnt lying. Sorry about all the crap you had to go through. Hope You Enjoy your STi to the fullest, They aren't as bad as some of the evo community may think.

Having been a sales consultant for coutesy mitsubishi for the past 2 years i know your pain. Me and my hubby each own a evo the first time i had it in for service cause i had a bad BOV. Get this the tech installs my bov backwards , and my car has a flutter sound when shifting, and poor idle. So after a month of not realizing what was causing the problem , my hubby saw that the idiot left vacum hoses off, and bov was backwards. This whole time causing damage to my turbo forcing air back into it, and ****ing up my clutch . I tried talking to my general store manager (gsm) but he just acted like he cared . what a *****. I tried calling corporate and telling them my situation , of how my cars clutch feels ****ty now and that i feel my turbo was damaged . So they tell me " ok your tellings us this because ??? what do you want us to do??

Riverside, I requested that they take a ride-along so I could duplicate the problem with me several times. I told them I could be there around 4pm on any given day, and they declined for WEEKS. It wasn't until they said they fixed the bogging problem 3 times that the former service-manager finally went for a drive with me. He witnessed the sound first-hand and then when I called for status 2 days later he said he couldn't duplicate the problem. It was absolutely nuts.
People understand I work for a dealership I know how mitsu works they cover almost anything with in reason. Its not like I get brownie points for sticking up for them. I just dont like seeing all the bashing on Mitsu when its not them its the dealerships turning the claims down.
Thaigurly, that is exactly the response I got from mitsu corp when I called them. The GSM at Phil Long was a great guy, the first Service Manager was a tool, and the second turned out to be an ***, but he got results. The Service Receptionist was totally hot, but she really had nothing to do with my issue... and... well that's completely irrellevant. What IS relevant is that Many dealers are doing their part to uphold the Mitsu Corporate way: Be completely unreasonable in nearly every aspect of business unless you're trying to sell a vehicle. No wonder Mitsu USA is falling on its ***.

You know what a big problem is? $h!tty a$$ techs that dont know their job. They get hired cause they BS on their resume and end up breaking your vehicle. Thats why I change my own oil and do my own services. If I need a big service done, I'll take it to a well known performance shop... Don't get me wrong... There are some great dealerships out there, but they only make up maybe 20-30 percent..
