sorry to hear that bud. I assumed that he caught you with radar, right? I would go to court and fight it. You can ask them when was the last time they checked their radar, it might not be accurate. You can say that you were speeding, but not 165 mph.
Is this your first EVO? If so, you must be so excited...
Goodluck!

As an attorney (who knows nothing about traffic law), I am posting to make several observations:

1] You know how, even with all of its mods, the Evo has its limits and can not reverse the laws of physics (e.g.: take a hairpin turn at 150 mph)?

2] So it is with traffic laws: Even the most skilled attorney can't do the impossible. You went 110 & are looking for a "loophole". That's a "loopy" idea. Just because it's very serious and you are willing to burn great quantities of money, doesn't any easier to make what you did disappear.

3] Having said that-the courts are great bureaucracies and both the prosecutor and the judge are humans. So if you get very lucky, maybe they will be reasonable/lazy and your newly hired, skilled attorney can break it down to a plea to a lesser charge.

It helps to get an attorney who is not afraid to go to trial because the neither the prosecutor nor the judge want to waste a ton of time on this and trials are schedule killers.

You also did yourself a HUGE favor by pulling over. Now your attorney has an argument as to why you are not a criminal-you obeyed the law as soon as the cop showed up-you could have run and endangered others, gotten on local news etc. So, by stopping you showed yourself to be a lawabiding citizen who just made a stupid mistake and now is very sorry . So, it will be much easier for your attorney to sell the argument that, while you deserve some punishment, you also deserve some leniency.

4] Finally, it's interesting that there are so many lawyer haters out there-until someone is in trouble. If you do find an atttorney who gets you off, you know what everyone is going to say:" Aww, those lawyers, they are all so crooked!"

Ouch. I hate to jump the wagon here, but it's not lookin' good for the home team on this one.

165? Nice speed, but damn!

There's NO way you could justify a speed like that, there is no way you can prove the officer's or laser gun's observations as false. Those were pretty much your only way out.

A few years ago, I got picked up in my Audi for going close to 100 on I-8 in San Diego. I was in a similar boat as you, but I was told by my attorney if I would have been caught doing just over a hundred, I would have been screwed to the point of no return. I don't know about AZ, but apparently if you get caught doing 100+ in Cali you're screwed no matter what. Maybe that's why the OJ chase was slow-speed? OJ knew he was clean as long as he didn't go over 100.

Good luck. Sorry you got caught up by five-o. I think the only thing that can help you now is a clean criminal and driving background.

I'd try saying that you suspected a truck that passed you just before you got pulled over had a driver that looked like an Al-qaeda operative, and you were just catching up to make sure before you called the FBI. Apparently it is totally ok to break the law to fight terrorism by any illegal means necessary so they should let you off immediately.

Either that or say you had diarrhea. Best way to prove that is to take a crap once the cop walks up to the door.

If your brave enough use this http://www.beatmyspeedingticket.com/no_ticket.html May seem hooky but i used this book to beat all four of my speeds last year! 3 in my civic all above 80 mph and one on the beloved RC-51! It works the best $30 I have ever spent and make sure you bring the case law to court.....Otherwise you don't have a chance...Remember judges make decisions based on common law, if it has been proved before and you show them factual proof your golden! Good luck its no sweat a little nerve racking at first but after the 2nd one I was like Bring em on!
Thanks

It is a good movie although it is old, but the cars inside are the best one in our general till today.

By the way, I guess when you are going 100+ MPH in an Evo, do you notice the needle on the gauage for the gas tank is dropping?

any retard could notice that your fuel gauge drops extremely fast when you are going 100+...150+ at that. its twice the amount of gas normal people use. and with an evo's gas tank at what? 15 gals? sorta common sense dude...

I would call a few more attorneys as well. Be very straight with them on the phone and let them know what outcome you'd like to get. eg plea to a lower offense and emphasize that you are willing to PAY. You might get lucky and find a guy that knows the DA or the Judge and get a deal. Otherwise you are probably going to get the full extint of the law in my opinion. I had a case that was not as spectacular but equally criminal, I called a few attorneys and asked "can you make this dissapear and how much will it cost?" finally I found the right one and my charge was reduced to a disorderly conduct with a fine +/time served + $2000 dollars to the attorney who handled the case.

Muahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a great law. 80 mph is reckless driving? Every single driver on the L.A. freeways when traffic is clear (???) is a reckless driver by that standard.

i have tip for u..........

just go to court by urself...........if the cop dont show up u could tell the judge that if u could drop all the points i will pay the fine....never say guilty ,.,...say not guilty.....most judge will listen to u since they are interested in making money....its all about the business.....they have nothing to do with the points...the points is there to help malking money for insurance company ,.,,,

if the cop shows up....still always say not guilty...and hope the cops say something wrong.....will dismiss the case....or tell the judge reduce the points and fines....
it will work.........

if u hire lawyer u will spend at least $150 for 1 ticket.....and they still cant do anyting...just eat ur money.........
trust me i went to court ,many times.............

The judge won't even see 165 mph will he? 110 is fast, but it seems like cars on interstates drive 80 or 90 routinely.

I Got One Wrekless Driving Ticket It Worths 5 Points ///but At The Court...i Tell The Judge That I Will Pay Fine If U Could Drop All The Poitns...the Judge Says Yes And I Paid Only 190 Dollar......

Getting Ticket At 110mph Is Nothing..........u Dont Have To Feel Bad......the Most Important Thing To Do Is That Drop The Points.....get Rid Of The Points....
Paying Money Is Better Than Getting Points On Ur Driving Record///
