Yes, all 05s and 06s have this built-in 5k launch limiter that inadvertently behaves like a 2-step launch control. Yes, it also builds boost (~5-7psi).

Also, you can get launch control with a Dynoflash, and you can have the RPM set wherever you want. The default RPM is 6k rpm, which is where mine is set in this video:

Dynoflash 2-step launch control (6k rpm)

It was discussed in this thread:

As requested, here's a vid of my 2-step Dynoflash launch control

With the 6k limiter, it builds 10-12psi, but I would not recommend using it too often with a cat, though.
hey, quick question.... y do u not recommend using it too often with a cat??

THe extra fuel in there could destroy the cat. This 2-step is really not for everyday use. It is only for serious racing applications, so I am hoping people don't just get it to go play around with on the street.

So are the 06's just set to 5,500? Or is my car just some odd ball?
No I wasnt slipping it long ... I know this entire thread makes me seem like I dont know how to drive but really I do ... I slipped it quickly and the clutch just slipped

Idk what youre doing exactly, everyones definition of slipping and dropping could be different, but try this then. Basically just slip the clutch till you feel your car grab the ground, then drop it likes it hott.

so with a test pipe u can do it often, or do u still have to be careful and limit the # of times u use it at the track?

With a test pipe, there is no issue.

what the bloody hell,
I'm pissed now,
the 06's ALL get the teflon coated shifter cables AND launch control at 5.5k???
I hate my 5k limiter, i confused the ECU ONCE and i launched at 5.3k, it was utter beauty. . .

So that's why '06's bone stock are clocking higher reaction times. . .this is making more sense. . .Warr, how much boost is one making at 5.5k versus 6k?

According to Warrtalon, at 6k RPM u are at about 10-12psi... so at 5.5k RPM... im guessing it should be around 8-10psi

According to my medical grade boost sensor and $700 logging equipment, it allows me not to have to guess.

This has no bearing on reaction times, however, it may be allowing 06s to get better 60's without having to disconnect the launch limiter switch.

It's automatically included in any Dynoflash now and is set to 6050rpm unless otherwise requested elsewhere.
