Would anybody be up for an EVO vs. S2000 Competition?
So, you picked the one event where the S2K won and ignored the other where it lost?

It all comes down to driver. But seriously, with Evos crazy HP and AWD you would think that it would rule the stock vs stock class but it just doesnt. This course layout even had long straights. It just meant that the more nimble S2k flew through the corners. Of course once you start modding the EVO it truly becomes a beast. I dont think S2K can hang on Dynos. The engine is pretty much maxed out from the factory. Case in point, adding an exhaust only yields like 2whp haha. BTW, in the modified class, the evo was much faster compared to Robert Walkers S2k whose only major mods was suspension/wing/r-compounds. NO engine mods. The mods on the EVO most likely had engine mods like boost controller etc.

Dude, read my post again. THis was a comparison of Stock vs Stock. I did write that in the modded class the Evo clearly won but it had engine mods. Whereas Mr. Walker in the Modified class only had suspension/wing but no engine mods. Maybe you just missed the whole point of my post?

You guys should just own up to Drew Gross being and idiot and starting something that shouldn't have been started.
This has gotten way out of hand but you guys keep trying to prove your cars to EVO owners, truthfully most of us don't care about the S2K nor do we see it as a threat of any kind. In every racing event I attend you guys know my license plate number very well(In all fairness I am tuned and very well I might add). But I don't post crap online!
I respect all cars for what they do but are you really trying to compare the S2K to the EVO! Come on man!
You guys have damaged your image in my eyes. Although that post comes from one person, it is posted like a banner for all to see as though it represents all of your opinions wrapped up in one article. Remove it and ban the poster and your reputations will be redeemed. Until then you guys are owned by an idiot that is obviously driving the S2K short bus.
To call the car that I love an econo box is just flat out retarded. BTW, I would never own an S2K!
I would just buy a Miata, throw a little money its way and be lapping you all day! For 1/3rd what you paid if that! You know that it is true too. I give those Miata guys a lot of respect when tuned.
Further more that post shows scars from a man that has hurt his pride and is lashing out.
That sh$t wouldn't fly here on EVOM. We are just a little more mature than that here!!!

Bad comparison and silly thread. I think the best comparison is the lap times in the stock class. In the mod class, the results are skewed because the EVO is a completely race prepped car. Maxrev's S2K I'm pretty sure is a stock motored car with suspension and a damn good driver. Why not just learn to drive your cars better instead of bench racing them?
Let me get this straight...
You guys are all worked up because some person (who you don't even know) made a post on the internet which basically said that he preferred the S2000 over an Evo.
And that has apparently offended some of you such that you are now trying to start pissing contests on the S2000 board?
Read that aloud and listen to how pathetic it sounds before you make another post. Good god people, who gives a flying f*ck what someone else thinks about your car so long as you are happy with it, can afford it, and it works for you?
If I mentioned that my favorite drink was mt Dew, you probably wouldn't sit and argue with me for hours on end how Coke is better. But when it comes to cars, the pointless posts don't stop. I bet some of you wouldn't put up as much of a fight if I insulted your momma
This is the sort of thing that makes me embarassed to own an Evo. Give it a rest already. Surely you have more important things to do.

Nate where did that come from? We own both cars and they are both great. Each have their pros and cons. No the EVO is not godly like what some of you guys think and neither is the S2000. I am a member of both evolutionm.net and S2ki.com. Frankly a lot of the S2k owners are embarrased about that whole article because it doesnt reflect opinions of everyone on the board. But a comment like what you just posted only adds fuel to the fire. hehe

I dont think people are pissed. We should get some sort of event gathered together. The S2k might win in little dinky parking lot races. But put one up against an evo on a road course, now were talking. Even if there was a s2k with the exact same amount of power racing an evo on a road course, The evo should win hands down if the driver can drive his car properly. We should get a event together but not just limit it to the s2k, but to all sorts of cars. Plus if we got enough people together we could rent out a track for the day. This would be very bad a@@.
you guys need to realize that although the EVO is a great car and has it's own advantages over the s2000, the S2000 is a very capable race car from the factory.
And the s2000 stock isnt really any slower even in a straight line than an EVO
the S2000 and EVO slalom is roughly the same
the skidpads are roughly the same
the S2000 weighs less and can actually corner slightly faster, and being that it is RWD, it has the cornering advantage, while the EVO has the corner exiting advantage and is more tossable and forgiving.
1/4 for an EVO VIII - 13.1
1/4 for an EVO IX - 12.9
1/4 for an 04-06 S2000 - 13.8
now although the s2000 is slower in the 1/4 mile, the s2000 is NOT much slower on the highway or from a 50+ mph roll.
the EVO is by far more friendly to mods than the S2000, but isnt exactly that hard to turbo an S2000 either.
the s2000 is a 2 door, and more sporty looking, but horribly impractical!
the evo is a 4 door, more aggressive looking, but not as sexy looking
they are both good cars
s2000 $32k rounded prices
evo rs $29k
evo ix $32k
evo mr $37k
the s2000 is competitive with the evo in EVERY way, except for practicality and 1/4 mile
rally and autocross are each cars speciality
overall, the Evo gives more bang for the dollar and modded blows away the s2000
and CAN compete in autox fairly well
while the S2K cant rally at all
the EVO is better all year round
stock for stock, the S2K is funner to drive, unless its wet out

And I think the point it's to make the s2k look like ****.

I guess that reading all of the ignorant posts pissed me off.
I truly love all cars. I don't blame the S2K just some of the owners. BTW, I really meant that I wouldn't own an S2K not to be hurtful but seriously that is a lot of money for what you get. Just not my cup of tea.
I owned a 550Rwhp/ 602Rwtq 300ZX TT now that was a Rwd car to have although it couldn't handle for sh$t.
I guess what I am getting at is that the EVO is the most balanced car on earth and I hate Mitsubishi, they just happened to stumbled on a master piece!
EVOYou have to admit that the guy says a lot of unfounded statements.
BTW, didn't mean to offend you just voicing my opinion ruthlessly kinda like that guy did.
That's it from me though I will show more restraint from this point forward. Also, nice looking cars. I especially like your EVO same year and color as mine. Did you see the time in my sig? E-mail me if you have any questions about mods to get or what not. I am destined for 11's next trip to the Drag strip, on stock 9.8 Hot sided Turbo. -Nate

Up until I drove my friends 05 S2000, I thought they were cool cars. After driving it, I wouldn't even consider it a sports car. That thing has no torque, and pulls about as hard as a lawn mower. Reving to 8 or 9 RPM just to enter the power band is a joke. Don't try to drag race anyone on a slope (incline) in an S2000. This car got beat by my girlfriends V6 Camry. The only thing good about it, it's a convertible. I'm not impressed with the handling. It's similar to a Miata with a set of cheap coilovers. I guess if you spend 30K+ on a car, and Honda is advertising it as a sports car, but it's really only good for cruising (unmodded). You have to make yourself feel better about your purchase.

I don't understand why people keep saying the cars are in two different classes.
On the track the only thing that matters is numbers - not how much it cost, who it is marketed towards, how many doors it has, none of that BS.I understand certain racing classes don't allow AWD and RWD to compete against one another, but since this is a direct competition between these two vehicles we obviously have to ignore such a classification.
The only reason someone would bring things up like "class" or "tuner Corrolla" is because they are just being arrogant and elitist. I think that is the reason people are bent out of shape. If he had just said he preferred the light nimble feel and the high revving engine of the S2K over the Evos weight, AWD and turbo power delivery okay fine. But he could have left the ghey insults out.

Here is a Vid from Japan S2k getting its a$$ handed to it by a WRX, Integra Type R and NSX: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...884284&q=s2000
Kinda of proves that maybe the NSX is in our league but even that is debateable!
Here a Vid of pure stock cars racing: The EVO VII kills the NSX S Zero, Corvette Z51, 360 Modena. It stays with a Turbo'd AWD porshe and the Skyline: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...39884890&q=EVO
