WRX to EVO

Anyone here come from a WRX? I was sadly thinking of going with say a 2007 WRX brand new over say a used 03 or 04 EVO because of practicality/reliability, I need AWD but I also don't need headaches of being in the dealership all the time because a gear is grinding, or something broke for no reason, sure I would drive the EVO how it's meant to be driven but minor if any mods. Shouldn't these cars be made to take it? I wish it wasn't so difficult to have the car. Pff, but what about that WRX? I don't like the 06's they just seem like a slight change just like previous years I am hoping 07 brings a completely new car. What do you think? Will I end up wishing I bought the used EVO?

After reading your countless threads, I'd say a new 2007 WRX would be your best bet.

Was that an honest response or just sarcasm? I just hope I wouldnt make a mistake on the buy but is a brand new car over a risky used one worth it? I mean I have driven a WRX before and it wasn't THAT bad but.

It's definitely an honest response - I truly believe that you should get a new WRX after reading your many threads.

Just out of curiosity, what is the price point on the new WRX you're considering?

I don't have an Evo yet either (til August). I also know that there are some nice cars around the price of an Evo. However, having driven an Evo before, I could never be that indecisive when it comes to the looks and performance of any vehicle near the Evo's price. The 2006 Mitsubishi Evolution IX ftw!!!!!!

I'm sure he'd love a IX, but he's having to decide betwee a new 2007 WRX or a potentially-problematic, used 03/04 Evo.

i've had a 04' WRX, it is nothing compared to the evo. the EVO is by far a way better car. thank god it got stolen or else i wouldn't have the evo today. evo has more room, faster, better suspension, better speakers, looks better on the outside as well as inside. go look at them both... you can't really compare... i'd choose evo over wrx any day.

Well in the case of getting a used Evo versus a new WRX...I'd still go with a used low mileage relaitvely stock Evo. After all, no matter what year it is, it's still an Evo! I would rather fix a few minor issues here and there as with any used car and have what I really want than settle.

03s have much more than "a few minor issues."

If you really think Evos are THAT problematic, then yes please do buy the WRX.

03 deff has problems as i am finding out my 1st week with the car. I havent even gotten to drive the #$%$ing thing after driving it home from the dealer. I will prolly get a newer Evo. They look way better, handle better, and the 4g63 is just made for boost. On another note, if you've ever owned a DSM and know of their issues, I would say the 03 evo is suprisingly worse. They aren't as strong. You will make more power, handle better, and look better in the long run though imho
