Drove 03 cobra, now confused. Previous cobra owners help!

I do know that the new zo6 and even the c6 are supposed to be very fast! However, the only new one I have seen run is at qualcomm and like I said it was running from 9.1-9.3 consistently.
Again I am just telling you what I have seen personally at the track. MAybe they were all horrible drivers? I dunno all I can say is what they were running.

God, evo owners are becoming more like the Srt4 crowd. Just cause we own a certain vehicle doesn't mean that we should bash all others especially cause most of the people that post stupid ford acronyms have never driven a ford.
actually even though the cobra motors come with forged internals the cooling system on them sucks, and with a (h)eaton supercharger as those guys like to call them, pump out alot of heat and cause the rear 7 and 8 piston to expand too much causing the motor to blow.
I just dont understand how these cobras and vettes or any other highway monster wins from a roll. I see modded evo drivers posting faster times than those highway monsters. But from a roll, the evo is most likely to lose. With my mods i raced a ls2 gto and he slowly pulled on me from a roll. WHY??
This thread has become a quagmire of facts and statistics. The C6 Z06 corvette will run low 11's stock, while the C5 Z06 will run high 11's stock. The engine on the Mustang cobra is a good engine, it's built by hand by two workers whose job is soley to build said engine. If you look at the left hand valve cover (from the front) there will be the signatures of the two guys that built your engine stamped on the valve cover. The problem with the cobras is the rear end, the IRS has trouble controlling all the power that the engine puts out. Fords suck but the cobra really isn't a ford.
Also I love all the a**es who are banging on the s***ty fords when we drive really fast POS mitsubishis. Since when did mitsu ever win reliability tests.
And lastly, the EVO main strength is to get off the line, we still have less torque than comparable v8 engines and traction is not an issue from a roll so we get dominated by their top end.
Maybe this will straighten some people out.

some interesting 'information' on here.
fyi - 8.8 solid rears are a dime a dozen and aren't as expensive to build up as someone suggested.
also, there are a lot of 'tuning options' for mustangs. i'm not sure what offender was trying to say but tuning a mustang is pretty straight forward. as with any car you should get tuned according to what you run.
anywho, you could always go the FFR Cobra route. drop in anything from a stock 5.0 to a turbo'ed 03 cobra motor. handling should be pretty decent too....

edit* maybe the ffr is a little too much but keep an open mind to it =)

However, maybe some others seen different?

If I was single and didn't have any kids, I'd most ef have my Cobra or have a C6 Vette. Since I am married and have a son, I need a car that will get me to and from in any condition and be able to haul his little but around with ease. Even though my EVO is still just a tad slower than my Cobra was, I am perfectly happy with what I have and have no intensions at all to get rid of my car.
Ok I just got back from racing a cobra tonite. Here's what happened.
I was crusing on the 805N with a couple of buddies of mine(in different cars). And this red cobra (dont know the exact year) but it was the body style of a 94-98. It also had a loud exhaust but I dont know for sure what other mods he might of had. However, we are on the freeway crusing at about 65-70 and he goes for it I of course downshifted and I caught up and mashed on him. I got to about 105-110 and just slowed down. He kept going, slowed down, then tried again this time I gave him about a 2sec head start and when I went for it it took me a little longer but still caught up.
Now I know this isnt the newer cobras but I just would like to state my personal experience with 1. I thought for what it is it should be much faster especially on the freeway, but thats just my opinion.
Btw, on my way to the 805N I was on the 54W and I saw a red evo 8. I dunno if hes on here but I know he saw me. I was the guy in a evo 9 gg.

I ran a 98' Cobra about a month ago. He had 4.10's, DR's, full exhaust, intake and a couple of other things. I had a feeling that I'd beat him cause he said he only trapped 84 mph in the 1/8 to my 87mph. We went from a 1st gear 15-20mph roll. He jumped out about a car on me and by the time we hit about 70 I was going past him. By the time I let out at 110-115mph I had every bit of 4-5 cars on him. At least that is what he said.
I had a guy in a black 03' come up to me Friday night. I didn't think about running him cause we were talking. He was actually a guy I met a few years ago, but didn't realize he had the new Cobra.
We pulled over and taled for a bit. He told me his car ran 90mph in the 1/8 with just a upper pulley on it. Now he has a upper and lower pulley, ported blower, headers, full exhaust, intake, DR's, and bigger heat exchanger. Kinda glad I didnt' run him that time.
