does anyone check vin# on engine block?
anyone check the vin# on engine block to see wether it is match to the car vin#?
cause my friend told me u have to check this whenever u buy car from someone to see wether its stolen engine or not......if not match u could be in trouble....
lets say if i trade in my car ,.,,does inspector check engine block vin# on everycar?
or only certain car like honda mits,.,,etc

isn't it a requirement? shrugs the instances of relcaimed stolen engines that i know of are from the honda world. i guess that means that evo owners have to be even more careful now as the motor can be stolen without a trace.
I don't think it is a requirement anymore than having a car alarm is a requirement. It would be a nice theft deterent feature, but then again maybe Mitsu knew everyone would be blowing up their blocks so a Vin # would be pointless

the engine has a serial number stamped in the block, on the side nearest the radiator. Looking at the engine from the front of the car, it will be on the left hand side of the block, close to the head. I always thought this was a requirement also. The serial number can be tracked to the VIN number to check for stolen engines, but the VIN isn't stamped into the block.

cause im about to buy used engine from some evo owner,,,,,,,i just wanna make sure i dont wanna be in trouble,,,,,,,,OR is it safe to buy used engine from vendor, company???

i heard that if u trade in ur car to the dealer,. and they gonna check it and if they find out that u have changed the motor,.it s gonna hurt the value of ur car.........is it true?
