Hi guys.. im in socali and was looking for a good tune shop. I can go anywhere from SD county to San Bernardino county to get a tune. i am currently stock right now and i want to get a tune within this month.. can anyone point me to the right direction. I here a lot of great things about shiv when it comes to tuning but i believe his shop is near san fran...

Lastly... what kind of gains would i be seeing from a stock tune to a tune with a TBE and Intake??

thanks for your help guys!

Its typical to gain more out of a turbo charged car through a flash rather than a TBE. On a naturally aspirated car however is different.

You can flash back to stock in seconds as long as you get:

1) Tactrix flashing cable ($90)
2) EcuFlash software (free) that is installed on a
3) Laptop
4) And you be sure to download and save your stock ROM before flashing it with a tuned ROM

Then, you can flash yourself to stock and back to the tune whenever. Not really a concern, though, because dealers are unlikely to know you have a flash.

UCSD, Dynoflash will be in LA on the weekend of Sep 2/3 doing custom flashes for Evos. Check out the Dynoflash forum and sign up if you're interested. $100 deposit to get a 2hr road tune slot that will cost $400 total ($300 on top of the deposit). Like we say in every other thread, a TBE/Exhaust/Tune will net 60-70whp gains or so. Look at the package in my sig.

Just curious. I know Dynoflash said there is a guarenteed 20whp gain on a stock EVO VIII in the old ads. How much is there to be gained (guarenteed) on a IX???

This all sounds well and good, but dont you think recommending this to some people may be a little off track. I know Im not proficient enough yet to tune my own car with the knowledge I possess. I just think recommending this could be potentially dangerous to someone without the proper knowledge/training/experience behind them. Im not saying its not a good idea, I just think it may not be the best idea for the average driver. Not trying to bash on FartMuffler by any means.

Thetox, what I said has nothing to do with tuning. It's just a simple flash back to stock using the tools listed by pressing a button, then flashing back to the tune provided by a professional with a push of the same button. A monkey could do it...

TURBevo8, curious as to the reasoning for your question when having a modded 8! The guarantee is the same, but IXs are likely to gain much more.

It's not recommended to ever run with the silencer, because it causes so much backpressure that you lose more power than the stock exhaust. It's unlikely that you'll be able to get a e-flash for a silencered TBE, and paying to get custom tuned with the silencer is a waste. If you need to use the silencer for any reason, then just stay out of boost, but I wouldn't recommend trying to get a specific tune for running with the silencer on a regular basis.

In the first thread that you mentioned ECUFlash and EVOScan you never said anything about flashing back to stock. I was in the process of writing my post when you posted your next reply about flashing back to stock. I was simply putting that warning out there since you did not clarify in the first mention of ECUFlash that there are potential risks involved. Im aware that it is a simple process to flash back to stock or flash the ecu back with another map.
