do a k&n drop-in filter and a flash you'll get at least 20-25 whp and you gas mileage will go up conciderablly.....

 

i dont see how u can get better gas milage? basically go get more power u have to burn more fule in the cylinder chamber, correct?

how does this save u gas?

 

I am curious about this too. I understand that evo's run very rich stock and tuning for more power usually involves leaning out the afr a bit. However, during daily driving, the ECU should be running mostly in closed loop where the afr is already very lean. Does a flash/tune change the setpoint for the closed-loop afr as well? Or is it that the throttle/load range for closed loop is pretty narrow on the Evo and even during daily driving, the ECU is often operating in open loop during mild acceleration that occurs when driving in traffic?

 

It happened when I had my STi Protuned. I got a 51 whp increase from the tune and my gas mileage went up considerably. I drove to Florida and I got a constant 25 mpg with the cruise set at 75-78 mph. Before the tune I couldn't get over 20 at all.

 

You get better gas milage as the car is leaner and better tuned. It is off the chart rich when stock.
