Well.. had to make a fresh thread since searching for threads on "wierd noises" in EVOs are a dime a donzen... hopefully someone has an idea of what I'm going to describe.

Just recently, my EVO begun making wierd "gurgle" noises that seem to come from the engine... I can compare the sound to what your stomach sounds like when its upset magnified by 10x. It sounds as if something as if a liquid or something is trying to push through somewhere but its just passing very slowly and kind of stuck... today all of a sudden when I was stopped at a light the car made two BIG gurgle noises out of nowhere... very strange.

This is my 2nd EVO and I've never heard this noise before... any thoughts? Car is lighty modded (engine is a virgin, no cams or anything... just exhaust + type-s).

 

Hey man,

Check ur UICP and the fan.

As it heats up the rubber expands and sometimes rubs on the Fan and can make funny noises.

 

Time to feed the evo more rice j/k

 

maybe flush your radiator?

 

Do you hear it when you turn it off? If so, listen by the coolant overflow. If it is doing it, get a pressure check in your cooling system...And then a compression check. It could be a bad HG.

An Evo with diarrhea??? Take some Pepto and call me in the morning...

Sounds as if you have some air in your cooling system. Check all the hoses, check coolant level.......etc.

 

Mine gurgles from the cooling system after I turn it off but never so loud as to be able to hear it with the engine running. That's weird...

 

I appreciate all the advice.. i dropped it off at service to be looked at, but I wanted to know what you guys all thought

I'll report back on their findings (hopefully) tomorrow... otherwise I'm going to be checking the items listed here myself...

 

Well time to update... it ended up being my A/C compressor of all things! Got that switched out... no more gurgle.
