Trunk Gap

Ok i got a Stock IX MR and ther is a 1/4 inch gap between the trunk lid and bumber, is this supposed to be there, its always been like that. does anyone eles have thi gap. I can post pics if you want.

I got a Hypothesis that its to keep the trunk from hitting the bumper at high speeds, due to the Downforce created from the Wing. If not thats what i will tell people that notice the gap.

How about another theory.. When you close the trunk, the lid needs to latch and compress the trunk seal. If there was only a small gap, the lid would hit the body.

I always assumed it was to stick your fingers in to lift the trunklid (if you didn't have a wing, like on a base Lancer).

No cause my freinds ES doesn't have the gap, I think. Maybe.
