Dubble Din???

Has anyone try to move their climate controller to the lower cubby slot by buying the single din peace for 70 bucks at the dealer.

Maybe find the smaller knob u see on the older EVO and the face peace from the older evo. And from what i see it looks like the clear climate controller peace is a din size.

If this can be done this will leave room for a dubble din on top
Im just wondering if anyone tryed this yet , or thinking about a dubble din opening

Is that from the factory guage pod on the bottom?
I'm interested in getting the factory guage and switch the location of the guages and the radio.

The climate control may be DIN sized, but it's not perfectly rectangular. There's also the problem with opening up another slot to make a 2 DIN setup. You'd have to do some mod work on the dash panel. I think Celm on here has a double-din setup for sale, but he's not sure if it will work with the Evo. I think that setup includes the new panel.

Relocating the climate control down low would also require extension of the cables connecting the temp and vent selectors. They're awfully short as-is.

Also, the brackets behind the dash panel for mounting the climate controls and mounting the radio are different. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. The climate controls are held in with little tab-style clips. The radio is mounted on metal brackets and screwed into a metal frame.

Overall I think this would be a very complicated mod to do, as I've already been investigating it.

Its real easy to do that, just go out to the dealer and buy the gauge mount kit $70 bucks with tax. 2 screw on the lower cubby opening. the kit fits a din size opening. the wire in back is plenty long for u to re-route . its easy as plug and play.

GTR, yes its the gauge kit on the bottom. I didnt like the gauge becasue its so plan looking plus 450 bucks is just way to much for its qty.

The blue trim is just cheap plastic, still waiting in the mail for my oiltemp, and oilpresure gauge. Plus waiting for my 10x10 sheet of black carbonfiber, it will replace that silly blue background.
with 3 guage it shuold fill up the top din, and shuold make it not look so tiny

i have the whole KIT.The Kit came off of a GSR EVO 7.the climate controls on the GSR are all electronically controled.when the Climate controls on the EVO 7 RS2 and the US EVO have mecanically climate control.Which means that on our cars when u want to change the temp or change which ever vent u want the air to come out.there is a cable connected from the controls to the vent.and the GSR its all controled by little motors and actuators.Hope everyone understood what i wrote

My dream is all over tnx to u Celm
So from the info i got, Im thinking the best way to do so is some how extend the 2 bike break type cable connected to the climate controller.then move the clear peace down to the lower din, then custem make a din size cover with 3 hole, then fit it over the clear Climate controller, find 3 smaller knob. then find someone to air brust the face detail.

Celm guess the RS kit won't work? Yeh that is a big disappointment. Maybe Mitsubishi USA will come out with a kit
