Winged Warrior III. May 2007 Indy. (import vs USA)
Dave wanted to just show up and have some fun with the rest of us, in the streetcar class. That we did! AMS didn't have any formidable opponent to vie for the Tunercar title, so we cancelled that catagory/class till we figure out how to pack that class. We had more drag-like cars entered in the "Tunershop" class, which would have done horrible on the autox course, and it wouldn't have been very exciting to watch, or be very competitive.
Next year is going to be a different story!!! Keep a watch on the site for more details on that. some basics we will be working on for the "TUNER" cars, or our "Unlimited" class:
Next year, it will be a 2 day event.
"Tunershop" cars spend SATURDAY at Putnam Park (2 mile road course) and return Sunday to Raceway Park do the large autox AND drags. Us "Average joes", do the autox and Drags on Saturday. Lots to hash out. We are working on the basic layout of WWIV in about 2 weeks.
Again, too early to tell how it will pan out, or what we will do/won't do, but LOTS OF GREAT STUFF for the next event, that I CAN ASSURE YOU!!! Each Event is better then the last one, that is our new motto.

Thanks Kevin. Ha - race it till you break it! Still ran strong in the AutoX at least (5th in class, 9th overall). Drag - it was dead after 3rd. Best I could muster was a 12.73.
Let see, what broke...
1. Melted BOV diaphram (fixed with some high temp sil)
2. ACD lights all on (added more fluid - so far no more lights)
3. Coolant overflow-rad clogged up (band-aided by removing thermostat and running just enough coolant - going in for a flush and pressure test tomorrow)
4. 2nd gear stopped working on the 4th and 5th pass (fluid was too hot - changing to fresh trans fluid when I make it back to MI)
Still was a great time! Proud to have run this event! Great people racing for a great cause!

Looking forward to the next Winged Warrior!

WOW!! Awesome pix!!! The red Toyota pickup truck, I was told, has over 1200HP! I believe it, he did a huge burnout in the parking lot!! These are AWESOME PHOTOS!! Thanks.

Kevin,
Thanks for having the event again. We had an absolutely great time, even the drive to and from the event was enjoyable for us. Very well organized, it ran perfectly smooth throughout the day. Glad we could participate and help raise some money for a good organization. Thanks again.
I also owe thanks to Trevor Jones. What a great guy and so glad we can be part of his car and track efforts. Trevor placed first in the autocross basically detroying the field. Best time was a 57.7 and a 58.2 both of which were the fastest two times of the day. This is in a full weight EVO MR that he drives. Thanks for being out there Trevor and always flying our banner, you don't know how much I appreciate it.
Also owe a huge thanks to Trent Stanley for driving my daily driver, Lord knows I can't drive it
Trent had a hell of a time trying to manage the rediculous power it makes around the autocross course. It was "Buck Wild" as he said. Anytime the boost came in all 4 tires would just erupt in wheel spin. He still managed a 59.4 or 59.7 (can't remember) and I think that was a 4th place finish in the autocross.
Very cool watching him run the course with that much power and listening to the car. At the end of the autocross course there were cones where the timers were. Of course you want to cross the finish line under full throttle. Well the car was so freaking fast he had to be doing 120+ at the end and you should have seen the poor guy standing there, hands in the air violently moving them up and down for him to slow down! haha, hilarious. No ABS made it a fun panic stop right after the finish line as the staging lanes were packed and that's what was right at the end of the finish line.
The dragstrip was a good time. As most of you know I refuse to put a roll cage in a car I am driving my wife/kids around in. So we knew we would get thrown off the track, it took 3 passes before we got caught
By then the car ran a 10.05 at 146.9 mph. I tried to the track guys to spray the track with VHT and offered to pay but they refused. They said the track had not been sprayed/prepped since Thursday. The 10.05 was with a 1.74 sixty foot time and wheel spin in 2nd gear too! haha
We had a great time, I love these types of events and feel there should be more of them. Shows what a car can really do, not just drag, not just handle, but all of it.
Great time. Thanks again Kevin and crew.
