i was just kicking around an idea and figured i would post it up to see if it was a possibility..

How about a 10lap unlimited sprint race? I know it might not be a possibility do to safty and insurance but figured i would thow the thought out there. I know our car is actually race preped as far as safty equipment so it wouldnt be a problem for us. dont know about others.

just for kicks.

if i remember right, i'd pass for street for everything, except what, a bump-steer kit? (can't even tell you, as i was asleep when robi was working.)

seems kinda odd, that being the limiting factor.

However, im fairly sure i wont be making it out there, and despite all the days i've done (20+ in the evo), i have no urge to deal with crappy nasa and their TT program, so i'd never be "certified", even though we run in advanced open passing groups.

However, if i win the lotto, that all could change, if not, wait for the middle country, or east cycle again.

This isn't a NASA event, only NASA safety regs are being used. I'm sure you're mountain of on-track video would be sufficient proof of experience.

I wasnt to clear on that limitation...Bumpsteer kit and ALK are both OK. The popint i was making is that only subies would use a ALK. No other suspension geometry mods IE nagisa control arms which change the roll center and can alter the control arm length. Trying to avoid people that do crazy suspension mods

OK things are:

Bumpsteer mod
Camber bolts and plates
ALK (on subaru)
Rear lateral links for Camber adjustment (on subaru)

We are still discussion tire issues for the classes

As for experience, Aaron Bitterman(speed ventures) will decide if you are eligible for time trial, but you have to be an advanced driver with experience in open passing classes. This is essentially a race group with full open passing

haha, i wish man, maybe the lotto deal will come true some time

But again, 0 experience on west coast tracks, ie: the track of choice will definatly kill. I'd have to sneak out there a week early, and sneak in some tailing runs behind nils

Robi's upset about the drive. Don't you drive all over the country for suspension work anyway?

I think that it was in GA ? Maybe I can clarify my request and see if we can get a Northeast event? PA, VA perhaps? Getting closer to the western border of PA which I lovingly call "the west coast"

I would also like to add that we are going to do a big national evo meet this same weekend at a casino in vegas. We will be able to get some good group rates, so lets make this huge. Tell everyone you know with and evo to come out.

We also want to fill up the DE section of the event. We should have room for 80 DE cars on the 22nd and 40 intermediate/advanced on the 23rd. Discount rate for going both days.

I am going to be taking this thread off sticky next week and put up a new one promoting and discussion the event as a hole, so if you have anything left to say on this topic, go for it

I attended this year's National Meet and Tuner shootout at Carolina Motorsports Park and I participated in the HPDE. Great fun.

However, the turnout was really poor and (no offense intended), kinda embarrassing. I wasn't sure if you guys were able to cover the cost of the even given the attendance.

I think that this is an excellent forum and I'm happy to see that so many Evo owners are passionate about their cars. I want us to have a great event.

I really recommend doing a better job on the marketing of the next meet in Vegas. My .02:

Include banners on the home page of evolutionm.net that hype up the meet. Maybe you should include a flash based banner with a countdown to the event.

Start threads in each of the regional forums regarding the event.

Ask the regional websites (i.e. socalevo.net) to post stickies about the event on their site.

Find out how many WRX's attended their national meets and try to beat their numbers (Creating competition is a great way to motivate people). Display this on the flash banner

Try to arrange some sponsorship/alliance with Mitsubishi. Maybe they can show off an Evo X to everyone.

Use Myspace to promote the event.

Good Luck!
Jonathan

We had some big issues with last years event that we are well aware of, not the least of which was the location. The meet portion of the event was not promoted nor did we spend any time on hit. This year will have heavy promotion for almost 10 months, its in a far better location, and we have to help of several locals. It going to be BIG!

The track portion will also be far larger. We expect a minimum of 70 cars on track with a max of 120. All indications are that with the amount of time we have, it will be a sellout. We already have more competitors likely to attend than last year, and we have not really even started.

Here is what I would like to see:

80 DE drivers on the 22nd and 40 intermediate/advanced DE drivers on teh 23rd
40 competitors both days
Unlimited room for spectactors.
Displays from numerous vendors almost definitely including Mitsubishi and Possibly Subaru as well

The meet is technically a sperate event this year being held in Las Vegas. There may be a show at the meet and will definitely be plenty of vendors, show cars, race cars, and regular owners. If we can get at least 100 cars to this, we can get some great deals with a casino on group rates and clearing a parking lot just for us. Given the location and number of evos within 4 hours, we could have 200+. I will be making a roll call thread so we can see the numbers going up.
