So there is no Nitto money available, and no tire width limitations in the street class? And unleaded race gas is fine in all classes? Also, in either street or modified is the weight reduction an overall net weight reduction or just a sum of the weight removed from the car (ie. if I take 150 lbs out of the car but have a 60lb rollbar installed is that 90lbs of weight reduction or 150lbs.)?

If you run the nittos on a street car, you will be bumped to mod. The 3.5 mile configuration of the track as a nice mix of technical and speed, so the added hp in the mod class will not necessarily mean that a stock appearing turbo car could not win.

There is not width limitation in street, but it has to fit under the stock width fenders which also means no heavy noticeable pulling of the fenders. Can roll them, but if they are obviously pulled, its a no go. The means that 275s are about the max you can run.

any unleaded gas is allowed and leaded gas is easy to spot.

Weight reductions are like NASA which means difference from curb weight. There will be scales for protests

I like the rules except for the 140 tread rating in street class. I say just limit tire size and run a 100 so you can use nitto or Ra1's. A real street car probably does not have any fender rolling and thus shouldn't be able to run a tire bigger than a 255 anyway. I ran my car in the street class last year and finished 3rd behind two cars that would fit nicely in this years mod class. The car I ran in street last year would be the perfect example of this years street class.

I just dont think many people would want to run an event like this on real street tires (140+) and if not they would bump themselves up to mod to run 100's and then would have the same hp defecit problems I had last year. This would give a street car a chance to win the nitto money if it was driven extremely well also.

I also think you should make tires free in the unlimited class. Why not let these high dollar machines run on real slicks instead of DOT race rubber. I understand the tire limits in street and mod but the unlimited should be unlimited.

My suggestion:
Street: 255 max width, 100 tread

Mod: 285 max width, any DOT race tire

Unlimited: Tires free

We changed the street to 140 because too many people complained and thats how other organization do it such as redline. We originally had it at 100 treat wear max 255 width

The mod class will not change to 285 because nitto does not have a 285 tire. This would give an advantage to those that did not run the nitto.

I am not big on runing street tires on the track but apparently a large number of people are, so we have to go with the masses on this one

I have never seen a person run street tires on the track in any group other than the beginner or novice level DE groups, but if thats what the people want..... How many people enter the 140 class at the redline events? I guess as long as this will get the entry numbers up than it will be a good thing.

So what tires are out there with a 140 tread? Michelin Ps2's, pirelli corsa, RT-615 I guess if you shave them it wont be that bad but def not very fast.

You could run RT615's, Advan Neova's, B-Stone RE01R's, stock Advans, etc. A 265/35/18 will probably be the size of choice.
I have an idea that might make more people happy. How about allowing a 140+ tire in oversizes and the NT01 in nothing wider than a 245 in the street class? That would allow some people to use the NT01 for the money if they choose to. I'm guessing a 235 or 245 NT01 would be matched close enough to a 265-275 RE01r, Neova, etc.

Yay! thanks for changing it to 140 non R-comps in the street class to please the masses .... This is very encouraging news and is pushing me to attend ...
You might want to add the tire size restriction as well, so that you don't have people b1tching and complaining, if it is in their nature . I recommend tire width 255 or smaller .... that way street class will have a smaller width than the mod class .... I know my car won't be competetive even in street the class because of all the allowed power mods but this helps level the playing feild a little.

RT-615, Advan Neova, Stock Advans, Bridgestone RE01R, Hankook RS212, Kumho MXs .... there are plenty of tires

I put it to a max of 275. If i do 255 , plenty of people with 265s and 275s will complain. The extra 20mm on street tires is not that massive a difference.

Good thing we have a spare cast Tungsten transmission casing to use in our carbon WRX. Should help us tip the scales just over the 2500 lb limit w/o ballast. j/k

Looks like a fun event, I hope we can make it out. We'll likely bring our Limited-class STI, it should fit decently into your Modified class.

Cheers!

The corsa is a DOT competition tire, so that does not qualify for street. Otherwise, the rest are all great choices.

Erm, a couple of questions regarding street class. It appears you need to have either a harness with bar or cage. Seems somewhat dangerous to have a harness/harness bar w/out a cage and it seems somewhat contradictory to have a cage in a "street" class car.

Redline time attacks don't require cages or harness bars in the street class.

I realize its safest to run a cage with a harness on the track at all times, even to hpde. But for those of us that actually drive our street evos to the track to compete in the street class...

Kudos on the 140 rating though.

Where do you see that? NASA doesn't require a rollbar/cage to compete in TT, and this event follows their safety rules.
