What should i suggest?
Ok, before i start let me just say i am asking this on behalf of my friend deryck, he just got a jdm evo ix white, he want to get an hks carbon ti turboback exhaust, hks rs intake and tune it himself with some device.
Now the question, he doesn't want to reflash his ecu, and this is probably the only mods he will ever do, but he want to tune with something, so i suggested the Apexi S-AFC with IX Harness, did i suggest correct.
Oh, and he doesn't want a drop-in, already suggested it, he races in everything, drag, road, time attack etc.
Any Help would be great.

If he doesn't want to flash himself, which is incredibly foolish, then the SAFC is all he can do other than some type of standalone ECU. Again, though, it's incredibly foolish for him to want to tune himself but not use flashing software, which happens to be free. The SAFC has no ignition timing control and no MIVEC control.
you see the only reason i suggested S-AFC is because he is gettin a cone filter which will make him run richer, i just wants to hit 330 whp, and be able to take everything out when he is ready to sell, i was now thinkin about xede, wat do u guyz think
No, a cone filter won't make him run richer. Cone filter cause erratic lean spots, because they suck more air and cause turbulent airflow across the MAF. If Xede works for the IX ,then it's an option, but it's way way more expensive than just using EcuFlash, which is free and awesome. Why would he not want to flash his ECU? I can't think of any reason...
he can't tune the ecu himself, there is no good tuner like al in our country, and he doesn't like to mess with the ecu he thinks it might blow up the engine. So why don't u recommend intake system in other threads warr.
Yes, he can tune it himself with EcuFlash. You said he wanted to tune himself, right? Doing it with EcuFlash is like doing it with any other device. He can blow up his engine with any tuning device. I'm thinking he has a misconception about flashes that they are dangerous because they change the ECU programming, but that is not the case. Any tuning device is just as dangerous as the next - it all depends on the person doing the tuning. He should re-evaluate what he wants to do. If he DOESN'T plan to tune himself and there are no tuners available in your country, then he should not even think about an SAFC. He should get EcuFlash, get the Tactrix cable, and let someone send him eflashes through email.
I don't recommend intakes, because they don't provide much gain for the money, and most of them are very poor at filtering the air while also sucking in hot engine air. If you live in a hot area with a lot of dust/dirt, it's not a good idea. Plus, one person has made 580whp on the stock intake with stock airbox.

You download your ROM from the ECU using EcuFlash, then you send that ROM and list of mods via email to a tuner like Dynoflash. He then takes the ROM and modifies it so that it is tuned, then he emails it back. You then upload it to the ECU using EcuFlash. It's all very simple, and there is an EcuFlash sub-forum in the tuning section that explains everything.
My only question would be whether or not it works with JDM ECUs. I'm sure that has been answered already, but I just haven't seen it yet, so go to that sub-forum and poke around.
