Side Impact Saftey

These cars don't have side airbags and also recieved a Poor overall rating from the NHSB crash tests. Just wondering, has anyone here been in a side impact collision and what exactly happened?

Thanks

it totally depends on the speed, angle, other car/truck involved...that being said, I've read threads about people who have walked away unharmed from major accidents in their evos and I've read threads about people who have died.

If you're really concerned about it, the Subaru STI has side airbags that also protect the head and performed really well in crash tests.

just saw this thread...Last monday i slid into a pole going about 70mph...The pole hit directly into my drivers door pushing it in about 2 feet pinning me between the center console and the door..the car is destroyed

My spleen is lacerated and the entire side of my body is black and blue, i can hardley walk but im totally fine thank god...ive been in the hospital for about a week and just got out..im ok but the car is a total loss, it looks as if i rolled it

i know the car doesnt do well in crashes but i survived a pretty rough side impact even though im banged up...i'll get some pics soon of my destroyed evo

Damn that sounds like some collision. I've always been worried about a side-impact collision in my Evo, having been in one before and walked away because of side air bags...
