I sealed the car air tight and pumped helium into the cabin lol j/k.

these are some good ideas. the mini battery seems to be a very good one, But would it start the car ok if its located in the trunk??? I have my stock battery relocated there right now

Lose some weight yourself. It's a free, inexpensive, and great way to get fit and have a faster car. Can't go wrong with having an even faster car with girls in it right?

After pages and pages of posts about each tiny little part to save even half a pound, you don't think anyone has thought about a diet????

Sorry if I come off being rude, I just get annoyed that in every single weight reduction thread some one will always come in and say to take out the spare tire and to go on a diet.

I'm down 10 pounds.....my wife said she read in Cosmo if a man looses 30 pounds his ***** will be 1 inch longer. Since I wanted to reach a foot (yeah right!! haha) I went on a diet. Only 20 more pounds and I'll get my inch.

Oh, and since this is about cars, it made my EVO faster too!!

stock susp. replaced with BC coilovers
power mods in sig

car still has 100% full interior never touched anything there... stock radio, still on stock wheels with drag radials (much lighter than any typical tire)

Nawwww. Saw on here where someone took the GSR, MR, and SE and weighed them. The SE was the lightest at 3100 and some change. You could easily get 200 pounds off the car and still have it a DD.

Is that the weight you saved from the exterior skin only and putting everything back on (side impact bars, window motor, glass and rest of the parts)? or does the 70lbs include parts like the window motor, side bars and so on..

Thanks

Also, check out http://www.reverie.ltd.uk for the lightest seats i have seen. at 6lbs each. i will be getting a set an a couple of weeks and will post pics
Yikes!! That thing's gonna cost over $2k shipped here.

Huh? You upgrade suspension to get better damping. If it saves weight so be it.
Exhaust is kinda the same thing. It's a performance part. On a street driven car, db's are also important. Weight saving is also nice, but it's silly to be only concerned about it. If it was that big of a deal, you could just run a dump-pipe out of the turbo and call it a day.

my car weighed 3150 with full trim except for aftermarket exhaust and intake. (9 SE) i think i might have also had the wing removed... can't remember for sure though.

i got it down to 3050 by putting on coilovers and removing everything in the trunk. I still can daily drive my car if i would want to, i'd just have to worry about getting a flat. The only way i can think of getting it close to 3000 is by putting on the IX JDM rear bumper i have coming my way.

unfortunately it seems that with weight reduction you will eventually hit a wall where every additional lb saved is going to cost a lot of money. I am nearly at that wall and there are only a couple more parts I can get that are relatively cheap. And I also don't want to remove any additional safety equipment like airbags or door crash beams.

The car is currently 2840 lbs, hopefully I can reach 2800 before I run out of money and ideas, lol.
