How much did you pay to save weight?
I was re-reading this thread and there seems to be lots of different information about the Apexi coilovers.
Dave posted the following
"Lightest suspension and what we are all currently running here at the shop is the Apexi N1's, 36 pounds lighter than stock for the full set"
Then later on Dave also said
"Apexi N1 suspension, 34 pounds which is 30 pounds less than stock."
Lastly you have it listed as 39 Lbs less. I am looking into this upgrade and would like to get to the bottom of this discrepancy.

Why does every weight saving thread turn into a discussion about how some people think it is stupid to save weight.
We get it, some people like weight reduction, other don’t. If you like it then please post USABLE INFORMATION here.
If you don’t like weight reduction then start your own thread about why you don’t like it or just don’t post about it. This thread is for people looking for information about weight reduction so can we please stay on topic.

To say that weight savings isn't a worthwhile mod is, well a tad bit ignorant, that is not directed at any ONE person, it is a general statement.
A lighter car is going to handle, accelerate and brake better. It is also doing to break less parts, help the parts you do have last longer AND get better fuel mileage.
I do agree that buying a hood for an EVO that saves 3 pounds and costs $1,000 is not a worthwhile mod, for an example.
On that same note though, if you are buying a suspension, exhaust, new battery etc., it is silly to not buy one that is ligther than someone else's, you were spending the money anyway.
The Apexi N1's, we have them still and sell them at a good price, that's my sales pitch. The total weight for all four struts is 34 pounds. The stock EVO suspension weighs 64.6 pounds. Saves about 30 pounds from the car.

Thanks for the info Dave, I was getting confused as it was listed at three different weights throughout this thread. It's nice to have a definitive answer, and gees 34 lbs is very light.
Is the price listed on your website what you sell them for or can you sell them for less?
Thanks

Shoot Jarrod an email, jarrod@buschurracing.com he'll let you know the best he can do on them.
dang it, i'm going backwards
haha
buschur race core FMIC = 28lb 8 oz
stock FMIC = 9lb 7oz.
weighed on the same scale. so i guess that means it is -42 dollars/pound
it is a very nice piece though, i have to give myself a boost leak test and then i will be conducting some testing to see how effective it is, but most importantly i want to quantify how much lag it has compared to stock.

Kevin, if the car has no boost leaks you won't see an increase in lag with the race FMIC. The FMIC is one place that you can't trade weight off for performance. Superlight FMIC's work for crap as they are usually too small or not dense enough to get the heat out of the charge air.
Stock FMIC on a high HP car would see AIT's in excess of 200F, with the Race FMIC of ours in place of that you can keep them 100 degrees cooler in the same situations.

hey David, i totally agree with you
the turbo flows such a huge amount of air (even the stock one), that the volume difference of the intercoolers are negligible.
just like with an intake manifold, the engine can evacuate it within 3-4 revolutions, and at 7000 rpm, that is fractions of a second.
i just wanted to get some solid numbers in hand for some of my autocross buddies who are trying to minimize the turbo lag yet maximize the power.

More stuff to add:
AMS mustache bar eliminator: $200 for 13 lbs = 15.38 cost/lb
Buschur mustache bar: $275 for 13lbs = 21.15 cost/lb
Buschur front engine mount/brace $250 for 6 lbs = 41.67 cost/lb
