Defi Oil Gauges

So I just purchesed my Defi Oil pressure and Oil Temp gauges.... I have heard from a few different people that I won't be able to install them wiht the supplied hardware. Has anyone run into this? Do you all have some tips/advise for me before I start this install? I have been searching but have not been able to find a specific answer with any kind of proof. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys!

You have to pick up some adapters so that they can mate to the oil filter housing.

I picked up these adapters from one of our sponsors:

http://www.42draftdesigns.com/vdo.htm

If you look at the bottom of the page - there are the senders that you need.

Also - do a search for a guy named bolsen. He had a write up that was pretty good.

I bought the senders for the oil pressure, oil temp, and water temp. Should cost you a total OTD price of around $45 bucks from that site.

Yes.

You need the adapters _NOT_ the senders. You already have them.

Look at the bottom of the page from the link.

It says Evo - you then look in your Defi manual and check if it's NPT or BPST. I can't remember off the top of my head.

the oil pressure gauge is BSPT, oil temp is NPT.

the oil pressure will thread right into the block (in the region close to your uicp - search for nils' post in bolsen's install thread) with no adapters needed. 42Draft has an adapter for the oilf filter housing.

some members have experienced problems with the sandwich adapters since the filter sits lower to the ground. some with aftermarket filters have had them get damaged/ripped off due to low clearance.

I don't know if I agree with the bold statement.

IIRC it is not the exact size so it may leak.

Why would you chance that rather then getting a piece that cost a few dollars?

Do it right the first time.

It does fit, perfectly. I have it threaded in my block right now, no leaks at all.

42 Draft does not make a BSPT angle adapter, I corresponded with them on this more than once.

I'm talking about a tap in the block near the UICP, down by the oil filter you will need an adapter. I edited my post above for clarity, sorry if that caused confusion.
