I don't notice any notchiness when shifting hard (which I don't do very often), only when cruising at low revs. I'm considering bringing it in for warranty but I figure it isn't noticeable enough for them to admit anything is wrong. It's good to know I'm not alone here, anyway.
change your gear oil to Penzzoil Synchromesh

I guess I got lucky with a IX. The only thing i get while going into 3rd is a slight pop, like a slight restriction while going in, and then it just pops in. I think it may be my linkage, so i am going to install shifter bushings to see how well it works. BTW, I have 5000miles with VERY spirited driving, still no issues.

I broke in my car in properly, and changed all the fluids at the scheduled time, but when my car is cold, my 2nd gear grinds alittle, and when I floor it, my 5th gear got stuck. Gonna check it out at the dealer this week though.

I think the main thing here is proper break in. I broke my evo in till 2000 miles, and NO launching until after 3000. "knock on wood" she has been runnin just as solid as my STi ever did. I do feel for ya though man, and I hope you get this all solved!! dont lose faith in ur EVO!!!!!
