Take into account who has a 5 speed and who has a 6 speed in this compairson.

 

exactly what i have!

rev limiter @ 7800rpm with the stock 235/45-17 wheel size

1 gear - 46.6mph
2 gear - 66.6 mph
3 gear - 89.5mph
4 gear - 118.4mph
5 gear - 170.55mph

Now with the stock rev limiter 7602 top speed in 4th gear is 115.4mph
With a 8000rpm limit the top speed in fourth gear is 121.46mph
With a 8200rpm limit the top speed in fourth gear is 124.5mph

Always with the stock wheel size... and Always for the EVO IX which has a shorter 4th gear than the Evo VIII...

with 255/40 at 8k i did 119.3 bouncing off the limiter passing

few months later when they were bald i did 116.7 crossing the line at 8100 bouncing the limiter..


i have no upgraded to a 255/45/17 1 inch taller.... and i'm now doing 124.4 in 4th =-)

 

What you don't get is that top speed IS NOT EQUAL to trap speed.
Trap speed is your average over the last 66 feet I believe.
There for your trap will always be lower than your max speed.
For this reason calculations are not that helpful.

 

Thanks for the info, with those tires your max speed @8000 should be 120.7 That means that you were able to trap within 1.5 MPH of your top speed limit. Good info.
