+1 Than I start the car put a hose in the rad and let it heat cycle untill it flushes all old coolant out of the block.

let it drain and refil the Radiator

The drain on the block is underneath the radiator hose as it goes by the drivers side of the car. I'll post the pic if I can.

it's in a place that's a PITA to get to it near the water pipe. i just left what was in the block, it's not much. i got 1.5 gallans out give or take which is close to the system capacity just using the plug on the rad.

Its on the back side of the engine toward the passenger side with about everything possible in front of it. I looked and that was enough for me. I've never heard of anyone actually removing this when draining coolant.

+1

I know what hes talking about there is abolt where you stick the ratchet staight into. Its right next too where the lower rad hose goes to the block.

I have never taken it out to flush out the syetem. I just heat cycle it a couple times unill it runs clear then fill it up with a little more coolant than water to compensate for whatever straight water might be in the block.

its an 8mm alan key plug on the intake manifold side of the block right under the number 4 cylinder freeze plug. its about impossible to get to unless you take out the passenger side axle. then you can reach from underneath. But still HARD to get to and its torqued in there to about 35 ft lbs too. Probably not worth the effort for how little coolant is left in the block after draining the radiator.

So on this topic of colloant does anyone know where toplace an aftermarket water temp gauge plug. I had one guy tell me he drilled into the radiator hose connector(the thing the hose connects too, not the hose itself) on the drivers side. I have the gauge just sitting in my garage and it needs a good home.

a few friends of mine use =GT-Spec Radiator Hose Adapter for Evo 8 & IX
GT-Spec 32mm Radiator Hose 1/8PT Adaptor:
Cut your radiator hose, slip this in there, and it has a fitting for Defi water temperature sender. You have to cut the radiator hose to use this.
jsc sells it under gauges section

42draftdesigns makes this to replace the upper part of your thermostat housing http://42draftdesigns.com/product/42919.htm .. you just put the sensor in the top of it and put it back on like the normal thermo top housing. Its a lot better than using one of those adapters in your rad hose.
