european cars and japanese cars have different "feels" to them. if you're coming from an m3, you'll appreciate the power, but you're high end friend will clown on you for having a rice rocket.

All great points guys. I appreciate your help.

So what I am thinking right now is to check out the EVO a bit further. While I am concerned with the EVO big wing image, I think I would personally be more satisfied with the performance of the car compared to the S4. While daily performance isn't everything since I can zip around in the company cars (I own an Exotic Car Timeshare Club/Rental Company), enjoying what I am driving everyday is. The rush of the EVO would be much more thrilling to me since I am a car enthusiest.

I am going to go talk to the dealer today to see what the numbers look like.

THANKS AGAIN!

Now they are fast, but trust me buddy I do have the slightEST idea what they are capable of. How many are running 8.56 @ 156? No one has even run a 10 second pass yet to the best of my knowledge (a stripped K04 car, 2800 lbs, ran 11.0). The GT cars were runnning high 11's and low 12's with good trap speeds (128-130) at a slow track (LACR IIRC)

They are heavy pigs of a car and they have been out for 3 years longer than the Evo (although the 4G63 has been out longer) but there has been plenty of time. A GT car may be a beast on the highway, but not without running way beyond the limits of saftey. They are not good for 1/4 or track, but lets not get ahead of ourselves frenchy. The OP asked about DD, not modding it to the fullest.

The fastest S4 is a drag S4 that was made in Poland.

But the cars on that list are nowhere near as fast as a list that the Evo could compile.

JordanS4: The S4 that you refer to (the stripped 2,800 lb K04 car) I believe is somewhere in NY; I've seen some of his videos street and strip. It's Nogaro Blue which we all know is the fastest color .

I have a modded rs now and I love it, but the S4 I had was really nice. I had a full Ex, chip, and a few other engine mods along with H&R coil-overs. I loved the car as a DD but the Evo gives me a maniacal laugh the S4 never could. The MR is much closer the S4 compared to my RS but it is still not as nice as the S4. With a few mods its not hard to get a S4 into the 12's and they pretty are hard to bust, I beat the crap out of mine and the only thing I broke was the 3rd gear synchros (which Audi replaced with a problem). Here is a pic of her riding on 19" BBS Ch's and the CO's.

To me that S4 doesn't count because it uses a 200 shot of Nitrous, is completely stripped and isn't street legal. There are Evo's that fast which are. I was speaking about US cars only anyways and forgot about him. Ozz's S4 is ridiculous however. Anyways yes the NY Nogaro S4 is owned by a guy named Marc. I have done a few deals with him over the years. His car is very quick but he is hated on the forums for his cocky attitude and defiling an S4. I personally think he is a great guy who just loves goin fast. You can't argue with the good things he's done for the S4 world.

P.S. Silver is fastest.

The S4 isn't a driver's car. The Evo is.
I owned an S4 a few years back, B5 and B6, and now I own an EVO IX. I agree with the above statement. The S4 is not a well balanced car so it's not easily driven in traffic. I think the EVO worked well for me cuz I live in the city and I can squeeze through traffic quicker than the S4 can.

Actually, my brother owns a B5 S4 now and after driving both for a few months now, I like my EVO in term of performance and handling.

My thoughts are: Evo for quick, fun driing. S4 for long highway driving and going to meetings.

So it seems that the right car for you is the S4. it's much more refined and you wont get 'ricer' look from you coworker or young kids. To me Evo takes the cake.

PM if you have any specific questions about either car and ill try to answer it for you.

You will be looking at a lot of maintenance for a DD since they're getting a little older now and will probably have more miles. You'll need to do K04's (at least) to keep up with a modded Evo. My VIII w/ alky and cams hangs with well modded S4's and puts stock-ish ones to shame An IX with TBE and flash will be as fast or faster than a S4 with $6k into it (read: downpipes, exhaust, and chip!).

I personally drive a VIII every day for business and it's great. Mine is wingless to keep a little lower profile, but the car lops with my 280's and has enough volume to the exhaust that even one of the quiet Indian software developer that works near me will stop and wait for me when he pulls into work at the same time as me. 'It sounds very vibrant' or 'it sounds very forceful!' he always says with a big grin on his face!

Also, I have the SSL package, and the leather really brings the evo's interior up to par with a lot of nicer cars. Dash not quite as nice as the S4 I'll admit, but I like to think of it as spartan; like an old porsche!

It's true Rob, most people can't tell the difference between the Evo and the Lancer. One coworker said, it's the Lancer right? And had no idea why I bought the car. My friend's wife had both cars one next to each other and I was telling them doesn't Evo look better with the fender flares etc. and she had to look hard to see a differece
And now that my car is wingless, people have no f-ing clue why this thing is so fast
And that's why I love it too

Hmm ... a new car versus an old car? Who cares about what people think. If your job performance matches the Evo's performance, you should have no worries, man. Be yourself, the enthusiast, and get the Evo. It's a no brainer.

I have never cared about other people's opinion on a car I drive.
What matters to me is what I think.
Evo was built to race in World Rally Championship.
Mildly tweeked evos been dominating Group N category for years.
Does it really matter what clueless masses think of our rally car?
There is no arguement in Audi S4 being a nice car.
But wouldn't it make more sense to buy a brand new car with a warranty (if you aren't planning on modding) than a used car with somewhat questionable reliability issues.
I would just go wingless if the wing bothers you.

The S4 is slightly modded, but it has stock turbos. I like the idea of a warrenty as well with the Evo, as well as having a new car that I know everything that it has been through.
Well, as soon as you buy your evo you can forget about the warranty
