Here's the thing about that, when I contacted RMR I told them from the get go that this car was a daily driver, plain and simple. It had to be RELIABLE! Every part put on that car was by their recommendation, so me thinking they are the experts and with Eric reassuring me they have done these same mods on other cars w/o any probs, my fears were put to ease. I TRUSTED them.

Now that their mods have done nothing but render my car into a non op piece of crap, they dont want to back me up! All I've asked from them is to meet me half way and pay half the labor that I've had to put out in fixing their mods. They aren't willing to do that. Their response was "well it drove fine when it was here". They let me drive my car home 400 miles knowing the idle wasn't right. Of course the idle was caused by the ECU, not the cams, although with stock cams in and $450 worth of labor to put them back in I've proven them different. They still claim the bad idle wasn't due to the cams, whatever!

Update: after contacting my attorney, I am going to have to take them to small claims court for the cost of the labor to install all their great parts as well as the labor to put the factory parts back on. I'm also going to file complaints with the BBB and Bureau of Automotive Repair. We'll see what happens...

I guess RMR is hard-up for funds from therefore, they are trying to rape their customers at any and every expense.

Shawn, maybe you should direct someone from RMR here so they can see all the backing you have, along with the impact this may have on their business on this board.

In regard to the statement about posting this whole situation on the board. It has nothing to do with what will happen in court, he is aloud to say anything he wants on these boards. This posting will not hold a shred of power in court. He is 100% within his to post his situation and his OPINION of the company. In other words he can post whatever he wants, people can interpret his opinion in whatever way they want.

After spending all that money and time with RMR I can't believe they didn't do the right thing by you and help you every single step of the way.... They seem to me now to be all about the money and see you later attitude. What a shame. Thanks for the heads up. I will concider this post when debating on what exhaust and downpipe to purchase because as of yesterday I was totally going with RMR.

Al - I'd really have to insepct that manifold to see what the wall thickness looks like...ts been a few months since I had my manifold in my hands.

In any event, I would tend to think you'll be perfectly fine by putting it in the manifold, just be careful, and obviously make sure you do it off the car!

So now we have a company to avoid at all costs. I think I will make my own parts from legos and gum before buying anything from a company that just wants to get you in *** for a little more cash.

There's nothing like screwing one customer just so you can lose 100 more.

I've been waiting on RMR to call me back about an exhaust for my car, but i haven't heard anything from them yet. I called them about a week and a half ago, (give or take ) and wanted to order the exhaust piping, with custom work to weld on an HKS titanium muffler (that they have done before), downpipe, intercooler and intake piping, all at once. THat's a hefty amount of money to do this, all at once, installed too. Apparently at the time, they were waiting on their muffler guy to weld up the exhausts to their mufflers, and that it was back ordered a few days. Since i was getting a different muffler put on anyway, and not theirs, they said they had it and that they would call me when they were ready for me to come in to have everything installed and to make the appointment. Nothing yet, and when i called them yesterday, they said that they have been busy with their rally and racing cars, and got backed up. I could have ordered these same parts from one of their distributors for around the same price if not less, and installed them all myself by now. I would hvae to pay shipping yeah, but it'd be done by now at least. I figure that if i don't hear from them by tomm. that i'm just going to order all different parts from someplace else, for cheaper, and not worry about waiting until the shop feels free.

If they are buys that's fine, totally understandable, but man, a heads up notice would be nice when things get really backed up ya know?

but still, why wait two weeks, when you don't have to right?

As soon as I read that they said this:
The RMR intake system uses the basic theory of pure induction volume. We used a high flow filter with twice the needed filter area to insure our kit will be able to keep with any amount horse power. Do not be fooled by so called "cold air intakes." The turbo unit is the hottest part of the engine. As soon as the air travels through the turbo it heats up to a constant temperature anyway. But don't worry; the Evo has a very large and efficient intercooler that will cool all the air before entering the engine. There is no reason to risk damaging your turbo induction impellers with road derby. Keep your intake in the engine bay!
I knew to stay away from them.

Gee, I guess I should be glad my RMR stuff works? Some of this stuff is nonsense. Like someone said earlier, there are 2 sides of the story and then there is the truth. I have a ton of RMR mods. My problem? That they don't make more items. I have had all of my parts installed at RMR, just like Shawn Glass. In fact, I was there while a lot of his stuff was being done (I live around the corner from the shop). They were taking their time and devoting at least 2 techs to the job while I was there. A few days later, I was there when they drove that car to a meet about 30 miles away. I drove right behind that car. It ran fine, stopped fine, sounded great, etc. I don't know what happened between then and when Shawn got home. I am sorry he had that problem. Maybe he shouldn't have rushed them on getting done. Dropping all those mods in takes time. Ideally, you'd want to add something, test it, move on to the next mod. Unfortunately, Mr. Glass just wanted his new toy NOW like some little kid. You need to shoulder some of the blame.

As for the customer service, the guys have always been very courteous and helpful with questions. Sometimes you might have to call a couple of times for follow-up, but they are a busy shop in addition to the parts orders. If any of you live in Southern Cali, it would be to your benefit to stop by and check it out. Just tell them you are checking it out, not that you've heard bad things. Make your own mind up.

The quality of the parts is top-notch and the fit is perfect. These guys have been doing Evos for a while now and it shows. For those of you who don't want to trust RMR, that's ok. But if you don't know for yourself what the deal is, don't slam them. There are a lot of shops people talk about here (good and bad), but I wouldn't make a judgment until I found out for myself. Going by some of the posts here, HKS is the worst company ever - and we all know better.

Good luck and I hope you all enjoy your Evos as much as I enjoy mine.
