I just don't understand why people buy evo's to drag race with.

A 550 WHP Cobra will have traction problems even from a roll (depending on speed). Plus if you get wheel hop you can break the IRS axels pretty quick.
But a SRS will fix the problem of the IRS breaking.

I can do what ever I want to with my car. If I bought my car for the purpose of drag racing I can do what I want. Sure it's not made for drag racing but it makes decent power with a few mods. The issue that I have with it is the tranny.

It's was having grinding issues when it only had 16k miles on her. Thats the only thing that disappoints me with this car.

For the loss you would take trading in your car rather than selling it yourself you could repair/replace your tranny with that money- then if you are still not happy with it you could sell it on autotrader and buy something else

Yea I know but I'm still making payments on my car. So if anything the new dealer will pay off my loan and start a new one with the Cobra. Thats if I find a dealer that has a Cobra in my area.

you probably just need to adjust the pedal man, if the pedal is too low it will not disengage fully when you go to shift.

It is your car and your money and based on the comment about the only fun you can have on the street, I think you should dump the evo and buy a cobra. Even if you do upgrade the tranny and or the Tcase, if you are going to be dragging the car you will probably still have issues. Evo's were not built to be drag cars, they can be built into drag cars but..........

Daily driver= nothing beats a 4 door AWD car. All-season, roomy, can haul luggage and still giddyup. Slap some winter tyres and you're set in the winter.

Weekend only/summertime only= Terminator is a baddass choice, although its' space, and only-summertime practicality, forces me to say stick with the Evo.

Exactly I don't have the time and money to go through trannies and clutches.

You saw my car running vs the T/A he was gripping I was spinning. All you smelled was clutch after that.

I think its time to dump AWD and got with a properly built RWD car. But I'm 50/50 as of now.

Hey check your PM I've got a vid for you to watch.

i would just save some money up if i were you, and send your tranny out to get rebuilt by shep or buschur... when i get the cash, thats what i am going to do. and i agree with the comment about the awd being so versatile- snow, rain you name it

Fridoon, that RWD LS1 had a drag radial and rear end work, you had an over inflated all-season on a stock suspension IX...he'll hook, but what's the good when he sees a puddle? Straightline isn't the only consideration when thinking daily driver . But in the end, of course, it's your car, your choice.

Yea I know, plus his car was a H/C WS6.

I'm still thinking about saving every penny for a trans rebuild and a 30R/35R. I really don't know yet.

Only time will tell from where I'm at now.

We have one here at the shop and absolutely love the beast, on spray it makes well into the 600whp range and traps in low 130s all day long on pump and spray...

Let me chime in here being a ex-Cobra owner. If your goal is 125mph and under traps with a little bit of drag the car is very hard to beat. The TQ instant throttle response is addictive very very fun. All for under 2k installed/tuned throw in some sauce on a window switch and 130's can be had.......but they can have problem too.

If you do start having piston problems (it happens sometimes) it can get expensive. New shortblock, freshened up 6spd, level 5 axles w/twin clutch, brace, etc etc. it adds up. Then you run into what tire to run? Big DR's for traction or good handling tires with spin city?

Good luck and you can't go wrong with either choice you can PM me with specific questions.
