EVO NEWS

New news today from corporate. We were told today that Us Evo will be following:
270 h.p.
Mechincal diffs, no active stuff (because of warranty issues)
Different bumpers, fron and rear.
Production of cars starts in Oct.... on sale in Jan.
No price info.

I usually don't play in the rumor room but I consider this source very reliable and I think you guys deserve to know.
This is everything I was told.

Interesting.....very interesting....

Good and bad news.

You wouldn't by any chance be able to get this in writing or anything would you?

In writing would not be possible. Super reliable source though. Bumbers, I assume for FED reasons. If I get more info, and I may, I promise to share.

Just as I thought...no AYC. I guess we will be getting the bigger fuel tank afterall (since the ayc is the reason it's so small..takes up space). I hope the rest stays though (Recaros, Brembos, etc.) otherwise I'll be searching for a different car

Great info Robert! I didn't think it would be a surprise to anyone that the NADM EVO would be shod with beefier bumpers like the OZ edition.

If you get the opportunity, can you please ask if there will be a Canadian launch as well? Thanks!

Thanks for passing the info. Do you know if we still get a big front mount innercooler? Brembos and Recaros? Did you get info if it will come as EVO VIII with 6 speed or VII with 5 Speed?

Thanks,
EJ

Those mechanical diffs better be something very special, to make up for the lack of ACD and AYC. Or I may have to look elsewhere.

If this news is correct, then I'm a very happy man. I was concerned about all of these hydraulically actuated electronic diffs being on the evo; I know performance wise they help a bundle but being a driver of a rwd car I prefer human based traction control via throttle input. With standard mechanical lsds at least there is that mechanical honesty that provides the satisfaction that you are the one sticking the car to the line instead of a bunch of longitudinal and lateral acel. sensoring devices. Anyway, just voicing my opinion. BTW, does anybody know any great Mitsubishi dealers in Southern California? A dealership comparable to places like Performance Nissan, Longo Toyota, or Irvine Subaru? If you do, please reply.

New EVO for US?

Here's some other news everyone should be interested in...

According to Motor Trend and Mitsubishi, the US will NOT be getting a EVO VII, instead they are going to call it the EVO VIII. Which explains why they will be giving it a new front/rear bumper. Can't call it a VII when it doesn't look like one.

eh...makes me wanna get an sti now. only reason i wanted the 7 cuz i liked the looks and i guess ayc and acd...though it wasnt a huge part of my decision. now that the evo7 will not be getting any of that plus itll have new bumpers and crap which i hear will have the big frizbee lights i can just get an sti. the sti 6 speed is supposedly one hell of a transmission thats been getting lots of praise plus ive grown to the looks of it a lot. better interior too...thats a plus...though i really dont care...but hey it doesnt hurt.

That is enough to pop my bubble No active drive train and still in the upper 20's. The STI is starting to smell a little better. But I will wait to see what actually does.
