any second owner warranty issues?

i just recently purchased an 06 mr with 17k on it, and i'm hoping any powertrain issues that surface in the next 43k miles will be under warranty. anybody purchase a used evo under warranty who had powertrain issues that mitsubishi wouldn't warranty because of you being the second owner. i only ask because i don't understand how mitsubishi will know that your car had it's oil changed regularly if you don't have the invoices to show them.

You do not have a 60,000 mile warranty. Mitsubishi will not warranty anything for a second owner regardless of wether of not its within that 60,000 mile time. They will however warranty up to 3 yr. or 30,000 miles wichever comes quicker because they have to honor the manufactuers warranty by law. Thats only if you are stock as most cars that go into dealer modded get blacklisted from warranty work.

This is inaccurate. Before you bought your car, did you call a Mitsu dealership service or parts dept. and see if you car had been flagged for voiding any warranty? If your car has not been flagged, you have the remainder of the 60K warranty from the in service date. Its called balance of factory for drivetrain and basic coverage. They cannot deny that to you unless it was previously void. I bought my IX MR with 4k miles on it with remainder of the 60k warranty still intact - for the next 5 years or 56K miles. I am basically getting a brand new trans under warranty due to syncro issues.

This is the second Evo that I've owned, and it's the second one without a warranty!!!

But that's my own fault . . .

If you have the original owners manual there is a second owner warranty card in the back that you should fill out asap so that when you bring it to the dealer for basic work they will be able to show that you were getting it done. If you dont have the manual you can just do it at the service dept. at the dealer.

You should also check to see if the car was blacklisted before you bought it, hopefully it isnt. GL

Plain Wrong. GFs RS in the 60k warranty 2nd owner. Bone stock Mitsu replaced the heater core at 47k

The 100k doesnt roll to the 2nd owner.

Second owner of 04+ cars get 60k Powertrain and Bumper to Bumper. 03 was 3/36

Have any of you had trouble with the dealer with just springs and a cat back exhaust installed?? I have a grind on 3rd gear at higher rpm, 4k and above, when under harder acceleration, and was thinking about brininging it in. Its an 04 that I bought a few months ago and it has about 37k on it. I was unaware since I did not push it that hard when I test drove it.

Well I had a 03 thats why I was saying about the 3yr/36,000 miles. Guess if your car hasn't been blacklisted you got a warranty.

This is interesting, because everything people are saaying seems to differ.

I called a mitsu dealership and asked specifics of what warranty would rollover to me, the second owner.

The warranty info i was told from the dealership i asked was:
10-year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty -> does NOT roll over to anyone. Once the original owner sells the car, this warranty is no longer applicable.
5-year, 60,000 mile bumpter-to-bumper warranty -> rolls over from owner to owner

Just to clarify, the 5 year 60,000 bumper INCLUDES the powertrain. The entire car is covered for the remainder of that 5 years of inservice date, or till the odo reaches 60,000 regardless of how many miles you purchased it with.

I screwed up the terms in my previous post - said it was 6 years 60000 miles.
