18 year old kid....new Evo IX....first time driving stick...BAD COMBO!!
yea i absolutely love it for all the right reasons, not to impress people, but just because i appreciate cars so much.
and i knew it was pretty bad when my dad told me i drove too slow.. i think im getting old too.

I could understand a 16yo doing this, but at 18yo I would like to think i was a fairly good driver and this kid should be too with 2 years driving under his belt (assuming he got his license at 16). I had a turbocharged 240sx and hadn't had a wreck or ticket since i was 17 and still haven't been in a wreck and I just got my 1st ticket in 5 years after i moved to Reno, NV. Whatever... Glad his Dad is doing the right thing and making him pay for all 12k out his pocket!
This is so true. I let my kid brother drive the EVO with me sitting shotgun and that little ****er almost smeared us onto an oncoming ford explorer! I chewed his *** out, I don't know but they effen freeze like deers caught in a highbeam.
well, to everyone on here, if you ever see a post saying i crashed mine, it will include my full address and phone number so the closest person can call me and find out whens a good time to kick me in the nuts.
i remember a few years back when i first got the evo, i would use to see evo's every where. lately though i'm seeing less and less. i wonder if it's because majority of them are being totaled out
not all kids are irresponsible and reckless though i admit most are.

Sucks to hear another one was wrecked by someone being careless. While I did learn to drive a stick on my Evo and it was my first car at 16, I like to think I was very responsible in it and took the best care possible of it.. Some kids just don't deserve nice things..
a persons maturity is relevant to a persons age. in special cases some fools never grow up and learn the idea of respoonsibility. if your 17, you've had alot of time to realize the consequences of your actions. in this case... this guy needs much room to grow up.
speed safe not stupid.

hey i have similar stories.. a buddy of mine totalled his BRAND NEW black evo 9 mr se into a rsx whom he totalled as well.. Good job.. All within the first 24 hours of him having it... I felt bad.. But it was all his fault. Made a 90 degree intersection turn at around 60. Slid out and BAM... now he drives a piece of crapola neon. Probably for the rest of his life. Oh well.. Age matters to an extent. But people have reckless ways going well into there 50s.
Stop generalizing ppl. I got my evo when I was 17 and I'm still alive. It was my first car and guess what; I didn't know how to drive stick. After three years, I have yet to get a speeding ticket, accident, and is still driving with my stock clutch at 40,000 miles with 330whp.
Just because some people don't have enough maturity or ability to handle such a car shouldn't give an excuse to blame an age group. I bought the EVO when I was 18, it had its 1year birthday this year and its in mint condition/ I feel bad for the parents and the kids upbringing.
yeah, that is very true about young drivers and the evo. evo is a pure performance car. I've always wanted a fast car ever since i was young'n from reading import tuner and all the other Import magazines. My parents would refuse to buy me my own car but they said they would co sign when i was ready to buy my car. The evo i wanted since 04 and i was 16 so i waited till i was 18, saved my money and put 4 grand downpayment and left on with a 2006 Evo GSR IX.. best car ever!!! but
the point of the story is i was 18 buying that car and its been a year and couple months now. i raced it on the street and on the track. its all on the driver
i have will power to know when to drive hard and not 2. young drivers majority of the time are irresponsible. stats don't lie
