Okay heres your remedy, put the wrench on the oil drain bolt and start tapping it with a rubber mallet. Works like a charm.

Make sure you get a strap wrench for the filter, as stated before. Also only hand tighten the filter when you put the new one on. I had a similar issue with my TC drain bolt. The place that changed the fluid the last time torqued it on so hard that I had to use a breaker bar to loosen it. The washer was smashed around the head of the bolt as a result of the over tightening!

I think its even funnier that you wont go into the shed to get the right tool because of spiders in there. I don't understand that phobia....but just take the car to a good shop and relax.

I've done some oil changes where the head of the bolt rounds off. It might just be REALLY tight,

The rubber mallet trick as stated above does work VERY well.

Just be sure when you put it all back on, I'd suggest to use a torque wrench (Your first time, if this is your first time) at about 20-30ish ft-lbs, and get a feel for that, then you'll be able to tighten it by feel with a wrench.

Oil up the seal on the filter, snug, and a quarter to half turn. NEVER tighten a filter until you can't turn it anymore or your only chance at getting it off is a chainsaw

"lefty loosey, righty tighty"

Leverage is your friend...extend whatever wrench or device you're trying to do.

+1....the filter was a biotch.

If you can't get the drain bolt loose
1. Get a hammer and tap the ratchet. If that doesnt work,
the hammer isnt big enough.
2. Get a bigger hammer.

Repeat as needed.

Note- If the biggest hammer you find doesn't work, use it to smash the car and take it in for a warranty. Tell them you hit a dog.

use a six side wrench and another wrench and inter lock the closed end to the open end and it will come off. rotate it toward the passenger side tire with the wrench toward the ground. next get a 6-10" long screw driver and hammer it through the oil filter and spin it off. The first time is a real b**ch to get off. after that you can just spin em off by hand.

You need one of these...

You'll rarely need to resort to the rubber mallet trick or a piece of pipe w/ one of these. I use mine all the time because I'm a weakling.

i nominate this as a potential thread of the year

i admit it takes some seriously big ***** to admit you can't get the oil drain plug off

follow the advice of nearly everyone here, get a hammer, mallet, breaker bar, pipe, interlocked box end wrench, purse, your girlfriend, something will get that bolt out
