Gas smell

Whenever I fill up my tank there is strong stench of gas. I installed a fuel pump a few months ago and this has pretty much started and consistently happening since then. I have checked the fuel pump...installed quite a few so now issues there or smell. It seems to be coming from outside the car...again this is only on full tank...any ideas

Did you mess with the injectors at all in the past couple of months? I had a similar problem after having some work done and it turned out that the aftermarket injectors didn't seat properly against the stock fuel rail and were starting to leak after a month of driving.

you might not have gotten the rubber gasket that goes around the fuel pump assembly seated too well in there so the gas smell is leaking out from the gas tank.

I believe your check engine light would come on if the tank was not sealed. I had that happen to me when I did not seat the fuel sender side properly.

I think this is it. It's just a rubber gasket that goes around the top of your fuel pump assembly (the big white thing). I'd check it and see if it's installed properly if I were you I circled it in red.

I disabled the ecu check due to the repeat code. The O ring is under the metal cap?

Ok.....theres no such thing as sealing your gas tank to well? If it wasn't sealed you would throw a Evap code since the tank wouldnt hold vacuum or pressure to check the Evap system if it wasnt sealed? So do you have any check engine lights on? The problem with right now depending on where you live is that the car wont do a evap system check unless the fuel temp drops below 83 degrees and you have a 1/4 tank of gas or less in the tank and it must fail twice since it is considered a type B DTC. So lets see....you only smell gas fumes when the tank is completely full, and you dont smell it on the inside of the vehicle only the outside? It would either have to be something you did wrong in the installation of the pump (No offense) Possible puncture in the fuel tank or a leak coming from the filler neck or even a bad gas cap. These could all be possibilities. If it didnt start until you installed the fuel pump I would say your problem more then likely lies there.
