Unhappy Evo + slide sideways + curb = :(

OK I slid on ice last night and hit a curb at about 10 mph sideways. Evo's don't like that and here is the damage. Ouch!

So this morning I jacked the car up and took the wheel off:

And then put it back on and let her down.

Now I'm not sure what is bent and by how much. It's pretty obvious that the hub/knuckle is sheared off.

This morning I managed to source the following used parts:
Upper control arm
Lower control arm
Trailing arm
Hub/knuckle
Strut assembly

They are being shipped on Monday. I'll take some pics of the repair and let you know how I get on. Wish me luck.

I've also sourced some blizzaks and I' hoping to pick them up today.

What do you guys think? Feel free to comment and leave advice.

I wonder if that would do anything to the rear diff? That axle probably took alot on impact.

So did you give it a little too much throttle out of a corner?

To be honest I was practicing sliding the car on ice. Controlled slides, scandanavian flicks and such. This wasn't on a public road.

I wasn't going that fast at all but I lost grip in a controlled slide.... which turned into a slow, uncontrolled slide towards the curb.

It was my own fault really and I knew the risks involved. Unfortunately practicing driving techniques can be pricey. Lesson learnt, it's all a learning curve I guess.

umm, when you practice this kind of stuff on ICE, try finding a place where there are 0 curbs and lamp poles and have a much bigger safety distance for error. LOL lesson learned.

Thats not too bad at all and glad you were able to find the parts already. It shouldn't be too long of a down time. Those Blizzaks will be great and you should be able to slide controllably and get traction fairly easily with them.

I don't think it matters how many wheels of steering you have if you don't have the traction.

Me too. I've got be the optimist here and look on the bright side. At least I'm gaining evo chassis dynamics knowledge oh and that it's not good to hit curbs especially sideways.
