Am I crazy for buying a IX RS with 1450 miles now?

Wow you opened up a big can of worms on this one. Listen, its like this....if basically comes down to $$$ and the car you like the best. If your looking for the fastest sickest Evo Possible, the RS is the FRICKIN BOMB to start. Plus, you will have a car they no longer make so it will be rare. The new car will be fancy and have all the bells and whistles, but cost more. a IX RS for that price with low miles is very good, check to see if it has the Urban Jungle Package or not, which means it has A/C and what not. No A/C or nothing may be too much of a racer for you and get the new car. Its up to you. I say if its an RS with a A/C go for it, if not?? well you have to decide if you can live without an A/C, I know I couldn't in the Desert where I live. I bought my Evo Used too. Its an MR bought it at the dealer used with 4700 miles. Wasnt perfect had a few nicks in the front and a small ding in the passenger side rear door, but got it for 30K out the door, so when you find a good deal...........DO IT>>>>>>>>>>>. haha.

every RS in the US came with factory AC.... ALL OF THEM
The thread wasn't meant to be a IX vs X comparison and which one is better. I just wanted to see if I should pay 27k for a RS with 1450miles. My concern is over-paying, so I just want to get an idea of how much is reasonable.
The car will be a weekend toy and some occasional grocery shopping only.

9 or 10
A IX Rs sold for $25,900 new just 3 months ago. I bought my IX RS with 15k in mods for $27k and 7k miles for $27k in Sept. Just buy the X, you can get them for sticker all day. It's growing on everybody day by day.
Bottom line the RS is rare, and if you drive it as little as I do (around 6k year) and turn around and sell it in 2-4 years your going to make someone very happy with their purchase, your wallet included!
SO.....I went to check the cars out today...and I must say, I LOVE IT......BUT not the price. It doesn't seem like the guy is willing to budge on the price, so it's a really hard decision for me. The car is definitely "brand" new and still have the new car smell.
Took the car out for a 5 miles drive, and the engine was smooth as butter.....the roll up window doesn't bother me, nor the noise.....I think a lot of people exaggerate too much about the lack of sound deadening.....it's not bad at all.
After that, I stopped by at a Mitsu dealer.....and yes, test drove the X. The sales person said they only let "pre-qualified" people to test drive. And by that, she meant they have to first run a credit check on you first. However, I talked to her a bit longer, and she let me drove the car around the block without any paper work (so that was a +).
My thoughts: Steering is certainly slower than the IX. I would say the steering feel should be very similar to a Mini Cooper (which isn't bad at all), if not better. It felt less of a go-kart like steering, but it's still sharp. I think that will be a bit of a disappointment for most people. Nevertheless, still very responsive.
Power though, I didn't get to really test it, but at about 70% throttle, the car feels fairly quick. I wouldn't be surprised if it is just as quick as the IX in terms of acceleration. In my opinion, the power is STILL there despite the weight.
Pedal position is not as good as the IX. The throttle is slightly too low compared to the brake pedal. The seats are much nicer than the IX, and the interior definitely improved.
So now, I am stuck even more. I know I will have to wait for at least another year if I decide on the X. But the IX certainly blows me away.......

Well, you can always wait a bit on the RS, tell the guy your price your willing to pay, tell him you have the cash in hand, give him your number. He calls sweet if not, look for another car. IMO you cant compare the two Evo's, the X and the IX to me are totally different, hence the "X" haha. But both are fun cars and both are going to last a while. I think a certain one should appeal to you more than another, and only you know what one is worth your hard earned $$$$. Personally I like the X its sweet, but too rich for my tastes. Not to start a new post but for the Price of a new MR, that is BMW 335i territory, and I drove my friends and its sweet for about the same price, so Mits better be careful because playing the "Evo" Card and charging so much for these cars bumps you into a whole other group of cars.......called Germany...Know what I mean? I mean, dang man no offense to Mits, but getting too rich for us common folk. As for the IX? Its an end of a Rally Car Era and to me this car the 8, 9 are just damn good cars for the $$$$. So, if you like the 9 RS get it and you will truly have an Icon to which you will never be able to replace.....Thats my ten cents......
