The SRT has a speed/density fuel injection system where the computer uses air temp and manifold pressure (from the MAP sensor) to calculate the density of air entering the engine. The ecu then knows how much fuel is required for that engine load.

The evo (and many other vehicles) use a mass air flow sensor (MAF) which basically measures amount of air entering the engine. The principals are the same it's just a different way to calculate the required fuel.

I need to get my EVO X before I go crazy.

I've already started buying mods.

HA! That was also my intention until this thread. I now think I will keep it bone stock until the warranty expires.

Still no real word on the 2011's I guess; I'm also "chomping at the bit" to get mine.

ok that definitely makes sense. now what happens when u use an intake with no maf sensor connected? how does the computer then calculate proper fuel?

if I replace a bunch of mods with the "same" mod but different brand do you think that warrants a tune?

At this point i can't switch out much I'm already pushing 450whp+ on a nearly stock motor and thats kinda risky :P.

The motor needs rods and pistons at the least if i want to make more power. Frankly I don't have the money to make that happen.

The intake surely will be different you could probably run it but it wont be full potential until you get it tuned again. If you got a wideband sensor you'll know pretty quickly if your tune is ok to street while you wait.
