I recently bought a set of Evo IX Carbon Fiber Front Bumper Ducts from Rexpeed. I was the second person to buy these and the first on the east coast. It took me about an hour for the install. The level of install was beginner and the fitment was a 10/10 on the left side and a 9/10 on the right. It would have been a 10/10 on the right but I decided to modify the front grill. The following pictures will go over the install.

I recommend removing the bumper to complete the install. It can be done with the bumper on the car but it is easier if you have it off. The reason why I found it to be easier was because once you have the bumper off it is easier to hold the piece in place while you are drilling the holes. Also if you want to modify your front grill I recommend taking the bumper off. Also If you had the bumper on the car you would have to lay down on the ground to drill the holes.

The first picture below shows the bumper removed, cleaned and ready for the carbon fiber ducts.

I chose to install the left side first. The next picture shows the carbon fiber duct held to the bumper with painters tape. This will help hold the duct in place while you drill the holes.

The next step is to drill the holes for the rivets. The rivets are supplied by Rexpeed and comes with a few extra just in case. The holes come predrilled and need to be opened up a little bit to fit the supplied rivets.

With the hole drilled I placed the rivet in the hole right away as shown helow.

Repeat the two steps above for all of the holes and you are done.

Now for the right side.... As you can see below the right cf duct is different than the left side. The hole will not fit with our factory mesh grill. I decided to modify the grill so that I could still keep it. The next few pictures will show you how I did it.

In order for the cirle tubular opening to fit the grill needs to be cut. You could just eye ball it but I wanted mine to be exact. The next two pictures show how I covered my cf duct with tape and a towel, lined up where the duct will fit and then used spray paint to mark the hole.

The next step is to cut out the colored wired mesh. Once you have the circle cut out bend back the wire mesh where you cut.

With the hole cut in the wire mesh the duct will now fit without removing the mesh. Below is a shot from the back of the bumper.

The next step was to simply repeat the same steps listed above for the left side. Below is the finish product. (note: I am waiting on my ETS 4" intercooler )

Overall the install was pretty basic and I am very pleased with the new look. In my opinion carbon fiber looks great on graphite grey evos. The rivets give it a clean but still aggresive look which I am going for. I would highly recommend this product from rexpeed. Working with Derek from rexpeed was top notch. If you want great products and ausome customer service I would highly recommend rexpeed for all of your carbon fiber needs.

Below is Derek's contact info:

And if you live around the Pottsville PA area you are free to come stop by and I will help you install the ducts on your car for free.

Yeah not to be rude, but what would be the point of doing this? Wouldn't it add a little weight?

I dont think you are being rude at all.... The point of the ducts would be to add cf accents to your front bumper. I am not sure if they help in performance but I doubt having cf ducts or not having cf ducts will make it or break it up against another evo with the same mods.

Add a little weight? Also not to be rude, have you ever touched carbon fiber before? CF pieces are very light. The ducts weigh about .25 lbs combined. If you are that worried about weight leave a few cds behind because that is about the weight equivalent of having the ducts and not.... Still not to be rude but.. wow

I would assume that they are made to go along with actuall ductwork that goes to the brakes inorder to help cool the brakes.?.?

What's the point in the two different holes on the driver's side?
