K band is still used in the US, rarely and mostly in smaller towns. But some cops still have older K-band radars.

The Escort Solo S2 is a piece of crap with terrible range just like every other battery operated detector.

This is why battery operated detectors suck:

Look how poorly a brand new Escort Solo S2 performed at the latest unbiased radar detector test. Notice how it couldn't detect instant-on radar when it was shot with it three times. The Escort Solo S2 is at the bottom or right above the bottom in every test.

The K40 is an overpriced POS that has marginal radar detection and it failed to jam any lidar guns used by the police.

Nothing beats the Valentine One in radar and lidar detection.

If you want the best laser jammer, get the Laser Interceptor, AL, or LPP.

First of all, Radartest.com is run by a guy named Craig Peterson who works for Bel and Escort so he bashes the V1 every chance he gets and promotes Bel and Escort products. He got busted trying to sabotage the Guysoflidar.com 2007 radar detector test and he had to part with a couple thousand dollars on top of the $1000 radar gun that he hid under camouflauge on top of a mountain to throw off the testing.

To those of you who think the Escort 8500 X50 is as good as or better than the Valentine One:

if you truely want an actual 100% effective way of jamming radar (not laser) listen up

Per my College physics proffessor

Hook up speakers that face the front of the car (he was vague im assuming just possible on the front dash and place tin foil over the front of the speakers....this is legal and jams the frequency of the radar.

I have an X50 and it works great, The v1 can be better or worse I don't care, as long as they all do their jobs there isn't any argument. From what I have read, if you have the cash get the V1, but if you need to save money there are a lot of cheaper alternatives

Oh isn't that just cute? Too bad if a cop uses laser or pop on your car you have no chance in hell of slowing down before he gets a reading.

Like I said...arrows and a heftier price tag does not replace common sense. Know where you're driving, know what the local police force is using and use good situational awareness. Relying soley on any radar detector to save you is idiotic.

IF you want to get around the legality issue refer to my other post.
